New guy to GA, YOM plates help

OK, so I know CA regulations backwards and forward and have played the game like a fiddle.

I'm having issues with Georgia. Can't call them as they don't list a phone number and I need an online appointment to hear I don't know from a 72 year old, 5 foot nothing drone in person after waiting 25 minutes. The local tag office is 35 minutes away w/o traffic.

I'm seeing that a vintage plate has to have to have previously registered to someone and I have to have it in hand. I don't see where there is a bill of sale or release required. Do the plates have to be correct as to the County of registration?.

I see all kinds of vintage GA plates for sale. Dealer plates, personal plates etc.

What kind of plates CAN'T be YOM registered.

Can you have a personalized plate registered to yourself and then re-made by licenseplates.tv with the personalized letter and number combo?
I did that in CA, never had a problem.

BTW, they have an online search from GA DMV for allowable vanity plate combinations. Anything with 911....forget about it. Likely emergency related.

However POOH C and POOH SC per the search computer is available, just sayin'. Go ahead and look yourself. https://eservices.drives.ga.gov/_/

No jokes at my expense, only I can do that.

Serious KNOWLEDGE based advice requested.

I run a YOM Georgia plates on multiple vehicles. The car is registered as normal and has a normal license plate that I keep in the car along with the paper form authorizing the use of the YOM plate. The YOM plate is displayed on the outside of car, if a cop runs my YOM plate his computer will show my current plate number and registration.

The YOM plate is in addition to a conventionally registered vehicle.

You have run a real old Georgia plate.

Form T-224 is what you need to fill out and take to the DMV

Thanks, that's helpful. Any insight or leads on legitimate 1983 plates?

I haven't seen anything in print that says you have to run a YOM plate from the same county you live in.

Ebay is a good source and I got my 911 plate from this guy:

1983-89 - GeorgiaPlates.com

You will notice he has some truck plates which look like Georgia pre 1971 plates and are more attractive in my opinion. The wording on the form does not specify using a certain weight class tag so I believe you can could run the truck plates.

Hopefully this link will get you to the current law. Click on the button that says "Current Version"

That’s pretty cool. I see my old plate I had for years is available.

cool, I hadn't heard it changed from the 1970 model year cutoff. and you can get your plate in any county but the county decal at the bottom has to be correct.

I'm in Alabama and run a YOM tag on my 1968 Dodge truck. It is registered as an "Vintage vehicle", but I can register the YOM tag to the vehicle instead of the Vintage Vehicle tag. All I had to do was show the tag to the clerk and put a little gold "V" sticker on the tag. Super easy.
