Diego Maradona’s Porsche 911 at auction!

As you may or may not know, soccer player Diego passed last year. It is one of just 1,200 in this spec powered by an air-cooled, 250 hp 3.6-liter flat-6 capable of 160mph-- it was a supercar in its day.

Car fans who are also soccer fans are likely to have their ears perk up when they hear that the late Diego Maradona’s 1992 Porsche 911 Type 964 Carrera 2 Convertible Works Turbo Look is rolling across the auction block in March.
March 3rd (today) to the 10th, to be specific, at Les Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris auction!

Paul Darvill, Bonhams European auctions manager said:

We are delighted to present this quintessential 90s Porsche with its very colorful and unique provenance, which will appeal to many football enthusiast collectors worldwide.
They're estimating it will go between €150,000 – 200,000 ($180,000 – 240,000 USD). What do you think it'll go for?

Nice car. Diego was a tragic figure. It was just sad to watch him self destruct after such talent and fame. In my book, him being a PO doesn't add any value to the car. I bet someone from Argentina will buy it where he is a national hero.

Maybe you can get lucky and make some extra cash and find some coke but without a smuggler's box, where would you look? RIP Diego! Everyone go watch some of his best soccer plays. They are still phenomenal to watch to this day.

Yes, and that's why I would not want the car. I am not superstitious but why go there? I'd rather have one of Walter Roehrl's old Porsches, for example.

As a rule, fortune and fame invites 'demons' (temptations)

That is one slow dog of a car, for him. I was eating outside on Sunset Plaza in L.A. back in the '80s once when he was there w his Ferrari F-40. He took off like rocket down Sunset when he left.

Not his best car but still very desirable and I'm sure someone will pay way too much for it.

I was 21 and I remember this incident like it was yesterday.
- He certainly lived with passion. RIP.

I must be way out of the loop, I didn't know about his past demons and "tragedies", I lived in Europe in the '70s and '80s and he was talked about and embraced almost as much as Princess Di.
