How is it that banned members can just create a new name and come back?

This forum is much better when we do not have them, or at least the stay in PARF. I don't really care as the ignore function works well, just curious.

It's a fatal flaw of this forum at the moment, that is for sure. We've never had a situation quite like this in 20 years here. I dare say that if Wayne still owned Pelican, there would be some technological solution to this clown.

Not picking a fight, just a ?? How can you tell that's it's been someone that's been banned?

It could be because you just said so in another thread.

Others just make it obvious by their posting style and eventually admit to it.

A solution I would like is some form of confirmation from an existing confirmed member via an in person meeting.
I think the subject of PARF is much better discussed when there are inteconnections of people that have met in person.
No confirmation by an already confirmed member = no ability to post in PARF.

I don't know the details of what got this individual banned and his subsequent obsession with coming back here. (When I left here some 5-6 years ago, he was still a member in good standing) I've reached out to get a beat on why. Personally, I'd be ok with keeping him here, if he would just abide by the forum rules and stop trolling everything...

We can block a user and even an IP, but with modern ISP's, it isn't difficult to refresh / renew an IP. So it is a little more complex than just clicking on a button.

Basically, he was banned several times for the usual reasons, did a "goodbye cruel world" exit and got the administrators to completely erase his user name/account, returned, got banned several more times including for coming back w a fake user name and finally got banned with a post from the mods saying, "madcorgi is banned forever. He can never come back. If anyone spots him trying to sneak back onto the forum, please notify moderators."

Just that. On other forums, (and I wholeheartedly agree with this policy), if someone ever does a "goodbye cruel world" exit and says that they are leaving forever, their posts should all be erased and they should be blocked from their IP address, which is obviously not effective anymore when all someone has to do is google, "how do I hide/mask my IP address?" :rolleyes:

Changing the forum rules to a 1000 post minimum before being able to enter PARF would be a good start and harm absolutely no one. It's been suggested multiple times, I don't know what the hesitancy is on the part of whomever is running this place now. Oh yeah, and ban the latest version of the clown. :cool:

You'd probably then need a program that automatically bans any new user with 5 to 600 one word posts in various forums but let's take this one step at a time. :)

I don't see how any of this member knitting circle stuff is worth any angst - if one doesn't like what a member posts, simply don't read their words (no need to even use the ignore function); there are several PARF regulars that I don't look at as they have shown to be too full of stink for even me (I just roll my scroll right past their posts) :). I'm sure that many do the exact same thing with my posts.

Terv once posted how he has a brain so can filter out whatever forum noise he wants to (a post to that effect - not his exact words), and I agree.

There are many threads I never even look at based on who starts the thread and/or the thread title.

I'm not talking about PARF either.

A lot of this stuff just doesn't interest me.....

I'm not offended by anyone's posts, I'm just offended by someone who doesn't respect the forum rules that everyone else ostensibly needs to abide by. I've been banned before, (for legit forum rules violations, I might add), and I would never dream of sneaking back on like a little bich. I used to work the door of some bars and nightclubs, plus was part owner of a raucous bar, if anyone sneaked back in after being ejected, they were leaving the second time like Benny in Carlito's Way. Just sayin'...

If you think that I'm breaking the rules, feel free to report me to the mods. Everyone else does, I always thought that you were not the whining type.
