Well for what it's worth, every Wednesday is a snow day - I'm sorry, an asynchronous learning day- for my kids....which means they are done with school by 10am

After all the down-time because of Covid, they shouldn't even think of extra days off.

Well, when the system puts the needs of the teacher ahead of the student...

When the dust clears in all of this, it will painfully obvious to some (but not enough to make an impact) just how poorly operated our public schools are.

^^^ I agree

No need. We're saying the same thing.

I just hope that when their next contract comes up...someone remembers this.

Same here, it’s a freaking joke. Why aren’t the teachers getting a pay cut? My high school aged son goes in person half days Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri, with Wed being basically an in service day. You know so the poor overworked teachers can get ready to copy/paste the next day of canned online curriculum onto Google Classroom. This is at a private Catholic school, I can’t imagine how bad the public schools are.

It didn't take the Wu-han for some to figure it out.

That's a surprise to hear. We are leaning towards making the switch for the fall. A couple good friends ours enrolled their kids this summer and have nothing but good things to say (in-school attendance all 5 days, better curriculum, etc).

I've been watching my GFs daughter taking online classes this year.. (- She is a senior in high school. ) It's ridiculous.. She takes them while in the car while doing errands, or out shopping with her friends, etc.. There is always so much going on with her in the background (dogs barking, people coming to the door, etc) I cant see how she "learns" anything..
