It's crazy how many folks drive with no license and no insurance. If they drive in those circumstances, you've got to assume that there's probably all sorts of other issues that would affect their driving like inadequate training or understanding of rules and laws, repeat offenders that have lost their licenses because of lack of training or knowledge or ineptitude, etc....

https://ktla.com/news/local-news/3-children-injured-after-car-crashes-into-santa-clarita-preschool/

Fortunately, it sounds like there were no serious issues with the kids.

Quote:
Three children were airlifted to a hospital after a car crashed into a day care center in the Saugus neighborhood of Santa Clarita Monday, officials said.

The vehicle crashed into a one-story structure at 28041 Seco Canyon Road, where La Petite Academy is located, around 4:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The impact shattered concrete and glass, knocking over bookcases in the room where toddlers were playing.

Three children, all under the age of 4, were hospitalized as a precautionary measure only, and they sustained minor injuries, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said.

Sky5 aerial video showed a helicopter airlifting a child in a car seat, as authorities conducted an investigation. A white Honda Pilot could be seen parked across the damaged part of the building.

Two-year-old Shayna Adler was one of the children rushed to the hospital, her parents said.

“She was on the other side of that wall. She was the kid that it landed on. … They found her underneath the bookshelf,” Shayna’s father, Steve Adler, said as he carried his daughter outside the scene later Monday. “She’s OK. A little scratched up but that’s about it.”

Shayna’s mother is a doctor who works nearby, and she raced to the scene when she learned what happened.

“The other children are just fine,” Allison Adler, Shayna’s mother, said. “She went first and then the other two children went in the other helicopter. They were just fine, both doing fine. I said goodbye to the moms.”

The driver of the SUV has not been identified. Allison says day care staff told her it was someone’s grandmother who’d come to pick up her grandkids.

As for little Shayna, her father says she appears pretty unfazed.

“You got to ride in the helicopter. Right sweetie?” he said while looking to his daughter. “She was singing the whole time.”

Still trying to figure out why you HAVE to pay extra for an uninsured motorist accident. If you have a license and your insurance is cancelled they should be coming to pick you and your car up.

That Russian Babushka should only have a CA ID.

I'm fairly certain that here in Texas, if your ins lapses, the state knows and may eventually reach out to you about it.

I used to suggest that liability insurance should be sold at the gas pump (not perfect, as poor/careless drivers would pay the same as good/careful ones) but EVs have made that less viable.

In any case, if the government is going to be involved in the insurance game - and by virtue of the laws mandating that you I must have it, they are - then instead of us having to carry additional insurance to cover ourselves against those who flaunt the law by not carrying any, the government should be on the hook to make us whole.

She didn't have a license...but don't CA sanctuary state laws protect her?

I only keep liability and comprehensive/uninsured (also covers theft and hitting deer which are the primary problems I might have). Never had to have collision. Saved me tens of thousands over the years.

From my experience (hit by an unlicensed, uninsured illegal). The uninsured just walk (or drive) away. No jail, not payment for damage, no fine. Why would they waste money on insurance?

No, they simply jsut don't give a siht. I am so piss about this whole situation.

If you and I were to have no insurance, they will rape us twice before we get out of the car.

True story here. An old friend who grew up across the street with me, busted his chops working, bought an M3. A week later, driving home from his office, down Wilshire Blvd, jsut outside Bev. Hills, in stop and go rush hour traffic got rear ended by some freaking illegals in a beaten up POS going about 25 mph. They pulled off to the side and they started calling him all kind of racial derogatory name in the book. Cops came within 5-10. All were sitting on the side of the road with minor injuries, twisted elbow an such, so no big. All cops want was to have cars towed off the road. Asked for lic. The illegals have nothing. Not a fooking thing. Cops, drove off due to no injuries. Tells my friend, its civil and just claim insurance. Those fooking illegals jsut walked away. Young guys too. Yet, they stress we must have insurance. What a screwed up deal.

I'm still laughing at this.

The EV revolution is what killed off the "buy your car insurance at the gas pump" idea. Hmmm...LOL.
