Hershey’s unsweetened powder, sugar, dash of salt in whole milk.

I just take several spoons full of Hershey's Cocoa Powder, an almost equal part of sugar, a pinch of salt, dash of vanilla and a bit of water to make a paste. Cook it in a pan until it boils and than add milk. That's the way my mother made it for me & my sisters. In Jr. High, I'd ride my bicycle to the local donut shop, buy a dozen, glazed donuts for 85 cents, & we'd all sit down to a breakfast of donuts and hot chocolate.

Good call, I'd forgotten about the vanilla.

That's the Abuelita chocolate. It does make a great hot chocolate!

I don't use Reddi-Whip on top because I don't have any maraschino cherries for on top of that. :D

Packet user. Two packets to one packet worth of liquid. If packet calls for water use milk instead. If it calls for milk, add a splash of heavy cream.

Heat liquid, stir in packets really well, add pinch of cayenne pepper powder, mix it in good. Add a splash of strong coffee if you'd like.

No farkin' marshmallows. If you must have marshmallows, then at least get "real" ones and not depend on the dehydrated crumbles in the mix packets.

Good game plan. Great game plan even, but where it says marshmallows swap in Kahlua.

1/4 cup good chocolate, 1 cup milk, 2oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream. Heat milk and melt chocolate, add BT and enjoy

Think my favorite alcohol to have with hot chocolate would be Goldschlager or a peppertmint schnapps. Not in it, on the side for sipping. Or shots.

Coffee black. Done.

I don’t think I have had hot chocolate since I was a kid.

My wife's favorite was Swiss Miss French Vanilla but dey doen make it no mo. I drink whatever, but prefer the fake cappuccino in a mix or fake chai.

It was the best ever!

Dark eating chocolate. About 85% coco so not much sugar, melted/mixed in with hot milk, and ground chocolate sprinkled over the top.

So of course I bought a bag of the stuff and brought it home.

My hands-down favorite is anything from this place, about a ten-minute ride away from me in Chicago:

Bon Appetit's recipe is unreal- the dutch cocoa/chocolate combo adds a tremendous amount of body.

Abuelita, REAL vanilla extract and cinnamon (canelo) make it with real whole milk and a bit of heavy cream. Soooooo good, but soooooo bad for you!

My low-caf and quick Mocha recipe -
put a 1/2 inch or so of: milk, 'sissy sauce', flavored creamer etc in mug bottom,
add Swiss Miss packet - Costco cheap,
run Keurig through an already used K-Cup.
Stir as it fills up.

This gives me a little caffeine and uses the Keurig to heat the water.
