I thought their customer service was fine and they price-matched anything online too. They just had too much schit no one wanted and not enough of what people did want. I think the trade war with China put a real pinch on their small components supply chain.

Only place I was able to find CAT5 cable at a reasonable price on the shelf.

I have been to Frys many times… I love that store! Anything you needed was in there…but just like most people, I haven’t been there in over a year… That stinks

That was an amusing day.. |
Never heard of them. But in the age of next day shipping and everything being available online, I can't see how a store like that would be able to remain viable.

My favorite Fry's story: I bought an LG washing machine years ago probably from Home Depot, one of the fancy $1,000+ jobs but I didn't buy the dryer. I figured when my dryer died, I'd buy the matching one.
A year or two later when my dryer died, the matching dryer to go with my washer was no where to be found. LG had discontinued the color. I though who would have a 2 year old model dryer? Frys of course. Sure enough they had one in stock for 30% off what I would have paid 2 years earlier. I had them bring it out and I noticed a dent in the box. I had them unbox it and sure enough there was a small dent in it. I asked for another 20% off but no luck only another 10%. So I ended up with the matching $1000 dryer for $600. Score! I've given up on high priced appliances now. Anything I buy will be pretty basic. Except maybe the range. |

I'm willing to pay more for a dishwasher that's quiet. Usually the more you pay, the lower the sound level you can get. There are often some features that you just can't get on the cheap stuff. But yes, often the most expensive stuff is often not necessary and just adds more failure scenarios. You may not need (or want) a washing machine with 48 different wash and rinse cycles and blingy chrome and bluetooth and wifi. |

What I don't need are multiple washer/dryer functions or a refrigerator with more computing power than my laptop and even more mechanical parts to break. |

Never was a fan. They always had loud and big print advertising, usually with a flagship computer for cheap on the front page. You went there ... "oh, we are out of that one, but this one over here (at 2x the price) is also a good option". Plus their check out took forever - by design maybe - which was a half mile long lined with candy, snacks and trinkets like you were at the fairgrounds. Mine was about 30 minutes drive away and every time I made the trek I felt like I wasted my time.

End of an era. I'm sure some of us will look back longingly like BlockBusters.
Will never have to feel the depths of depression when trying to check out and the clerk yells "Customer Service!". It just means you're going to be growing old right there as the search for someone who knows what to do needs to be found. :-) |
Haven't been there in probably two decades. As matter of fact I just got rid of my wife's first digital camera we bought from there. If I remember right, it was a 2.6 MB format. That says how long it's been. I actuall bought several things from them back in the day.

Best Buy is toast.....

Hold a nividia graphics processor in one hand, a pvc drain trap in the other. Walk up to the fry’s employee and ask if these parts are compatible. They will say yes. It was a good store if you knew exactly what you wanted and knew to the inch what shelf it was on. |
Years ago, it was my goto place for "Radio Shack" parts and computer parts "today". They also had things like bags of foreign plug converters.
It may end up being a boost to local places like "Ace Electronics", which is more like Radio Shack from 60 years ago. |
