I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Good close friends are hard to come by and impossible to replace. God speed RKD

gsxrken 02-27-2021 08:32 AM

Echoing much of what has already been posted. RIP, Richard. Glen, you have lost a great deal here and at hope you’re ok too. It is the routines that particularly ache from such a loss, and you guys sound like you had grooved some enviable ones.

Glen...AS a former member of Warbonnet and fairly frequent autocrosser (Black GT3) I remember Richard and his 928 very well. Sorry for your loss and RIP Richard.

fintstone 02-27-2021 08:51 AM

Richard was a great guy. He will be missed here. Godspeed friend!

carreradpt 02-27-2021 11:44 AM

Good post Glen, thanks. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Glen, and RIP Richard. Way too young, life isn’t fair.

DanielDudley 02-27-2021 03:39 PM

Wow, Sorry Glen.

He was a super nice guy. Was he still married? I remember his wife posting here and on other sites, and I hope she is OK. Dang.

Let us know if there is anything we can do.

Wrong other guy. RKD was never married. Life long bachelor.

Not able to respond the way it should be.
I once re-connected with old friends, with a deep personal connection, but they were unfortunately the same.

Wish that I knew someone like that man...

slow&rusty 02-28-2021 03:28 AM

Rest in peace Richard, so very sad and so young.

Glen - Thanks for letting us know and my condolences.

When his 928 was listed on BaT last year, I wished I had the funds to buy it as it is a very special, rare and beautiful car. I know the car did not meet reserve, was it then sold privately? I remember he had a nasty foot injury a few years ago which affected his ability to use the clutch and the car did not get driven much the last few years.

Richard was also active on the 928 Rennlist group as well, where he and his GTS are well known. If you're a Rennlist member, a post like this on the 928 sub-forum would be appreciated.

I'm starting to feel like I'm losing it. Beautiful blue GTS with aftermarket wheels?

:(

Reading his posts over the years I formed the opinion that he was a kind thoughtful soul.

This is one of the things that sucks about having been a member/observer for decades.......

:(

GH85Carrera 02-28-2021 05:47 AM

I know he was active in the 928 group for a while. I don't even know what group, and how to contact them. I would like to let them know the bad news.

slow&rusty 02-28-2021 08:17 AM

Glen - Here is a link to the 928 Rennlist Group, as with any forum, you will have to create an account to post.

I guess I was still posting on the Rennlist 928 forum when he came up with that car. 996 wheels were the hot ticket then because they were the correct offset for 928s and a lot of them were being listed in the for sale section. That was a special car, and it went to a good home where it was well appreciated.

By odd coincidence my mother in law got Covid last Summer, and also suffered at least one stroke which went undetected at the time. She spent her last days at our house, and it was a difficult thing for her to go through, and very humbling for me to experience. I stuffed a lot of feelings under the carpet, and watched a lot of Hallmark Channel movies while holding her hand. I hope she was somewhat comforted.

For those of you who were close to Richard, you have my deepest sympathies. It's a tough thing. I have to believe that the end of suffering is sometimes a blessing, but it doesn't always make saying goodby easier.

slow&rusty 03-03-2021 02:48 AM

Very thoughtful post Daniel Dudley...especially your last sentence.

My condolences on the loss of your mother in law.

KFC911 03-03-2021 02:51 AM
