I generally have an unfrosted strawberry pop tart for breakfast every morning! They are getting harder and harder to find as most stores just have the pop tarts with sugary frosting all over them.

I've tried them in the past (all diff flavors)
Never found one that I liked.

Weren't they featured on 60 Minutes for bursting into flames if toasted too long?

The fillings are tasty, but the crust bears a strong resemblance to the taste and texture of cardboard. Been a long time since I’ve had one, but I would usually get a chocolate or cinnamon version.

The gating item to the invention was creating a frosting that could withstand vertical toasting without melting. Just think about that for a minute.

When did toast and jam get to be too difficult?

I haven't had a pop tart in years, probably been at least 10-12 years. But they are tasty. What's even better are their evil twin brother, the Toaster Strudel!

I worked a bit on that. "Unfrosted" directed by Jerry Seinfeld. I was asking "Who in the heck would watch a movie about Pop Tarts?".

But I said the same thing about "Frost/Nixon", Air Jordans, "Vice" (Dick Cheney) and others. What the heck do I know...

Toast'ems came out first and are cheaper and taste better when you can find them. Other than Brown Sugar Cinnamon where the Pop Tart brand is better. Have to butter them though. All of them need butter.
