How much do you tip movers?

I supply a case of bottled water.

Bring in a bucket of KFC with sides and encourage them to sit at a table and have a civilized lunch.

Plus $50 or so a head tip.

Oh, and I make sure to tip each one individually rather than just handing the lead guy a wad.

I worked for United Van Lines in college and never saw anyone receive a tip (and we were good). We were thrilled to death with our $5/hour.

Last time I moved was five years ago and I moved a 1200sf home a few blocks. The guys were f***ing awesome and I tipped them $20 each.

$60-$100 per guy depending on how long the moves were. Had movers 5 times over a 6 year period, now haven’t moved in 4 years and don’t plan too.

Guys bust their ass and take care of my stuff, they deserve the tip.

I totally agree with the idea of offering food and drinks! When I moved recently, I also gave my movers a case of water, and pizza for lunch—it seemed to go over really well. I tipped about $40 per person, but I like your idea of giving each mover their own tip instead of just handing it to the lead. Definitely something I'll do next time! As a kid that grew up as an Air Force brat, we moved a LOT. Since dad was an officer, the USAF paid for the movers. I doubt dad ever tipped them.

I have helped a few buddies move. The worst was a guy that moved from one apartment on the second floor to a different apartment on the 2nd floor on the other side of the apartment complex. Everything was just carried, down one flight, past the pool, and back up one level of stairs.

And all he provided was Coors light, and a cheese pizza.

I had a few buddies help me move back in my single days. I did not have much, so it was easy.

When we bough this house, 26 years ago, wee both agreed this is it, we stay here until we go out feet first on a gurney to the morgue, or in a wheel chair to the old folks home.

In the first 5 years of our marriage, we moved about 8 times. Sometimes shifting between apartments, once chased out of a burning house. Each time, family was there to help. The last move was 43 years ago. Never again, if I can help it.
When a good friend died, his widow waited 2 years to make the major decision to sell the house they had built. She called the movers and my wife drove over to the Island to be of moral support. When she arrived, seeing nothing was packed, she asked her friend what was going on. My wife was told when my friend was in the RCMP, the movers took care of everything.
The next morning they found out that wasn't the deal, so the girls got busy. Boxes were collected from the local grocery store and as mentioned above, the heavy stuff went on the truck first while my wife packed the kitchen and her friend did almost everything else.
The moving guys were sympathetic and took their time. By the time everything was said and done all the stuff was moved and everyone had been fed.
15 years later, the women still laugh about it.

Guys like movers I give them a dozen beers. But I sure wouldn't tip them cash.

Here in NZ we are not really a tipping country. I'm one of the few people I know who do tip, or in cases like this, buy them some beers.

Once a waitress asked for a tip. I told her to eat lots of fresh vegetables and not to forget to call her mother.
