Thoughts on a Cayenne?

Darn! I thought about getting a GTS/Turbo and getting rid of my 535i and the X5. I guess I will have to keep a sedan to take care of mom. She's really tiny (less than 5') at 91 years young.

Thanks Bryan, I'll measure tomorrow for you. Even with the truck kneeling down when you open the doors, it's still pretty high.

<5' - that does present a challenge.

The load level is low but they can be set to go lower, if you get into the code. IIRC a Durametric cable allows the tweaking to happen. - essentially resetting the zero point to a lower encoder level. ...but then the high doesn't go as high. You will need an alignment too, as the toe changes with height settings. Write-ups are online.

My mechanic is going to replace the hpfp on the cayenne for $497 parts and labor. I am very glad I only have a V6, because the hpfp on the V8 is about $1,200 for the pump only.

I did my engine mounted high pressure fuel pump on my 2008 v6 myself. A little tough to get to, but I bought the part online for around $200 IIRC. I searched VW pump that cross referenced with the Cayenne.

Mine is a v8. I assumed they would be similar. I replaced both pumps and the filter while in there (fuel tank). Seems like parts were around $800.

My wife is well under 5' and has no problems but she is mid sixties. It might be tough for a 91 year old without taking a small, sturdy step with you when you take her with you.

Hagerty insures my 2010 GT3RS so that’s odd they would not insure that.

They are built like a tank. I have always only had minimal insurance liability and comprehensive (theft, natural disaster, vandalism, uninsured driver). Hit a deer once, but comprehensive covered fixing it after that (not my fault/act of God). Cheap to insure.

So I won't be driving the truck for some time. First appointment at a registry relatively close to me is March 30th.

Boost, Hagerty sort of said it's an SUV. I got it insured today with one of my other carriers so it's safe. Nice being old with an excellent driving record. And I'm sure the actuarial tables for these things are pretty favorable given the normal driver population.

oh, did you not see my earlier post about my hour long text convo on FB about the truck and I said I would come down and see it and give him a deposit and then set up a dealership PPI and he said no deposit necessary, truck is yours if you want it and then the next day that was reconfirmed.

Then apparently a lot of people were hot on the truck and he had a guy see it and should have said, I've got a guy coming down tomorrow, he has first dibs, will let you know what he says... Instead he took a large deposit from the guy. He was easily convinced of the error in judgment because he already knew he had done the wrong thing.

That doesn't sound right. Dealer price is ~$400 and is the same pump regardless of (gas) engine up thru 2010.

Pelican and my local-ish Porsche dealer show it as NLA (955-620-103-03)

But is available for under $100 many places.

You may be right, the $1,200+ price tag I saw could have been ‘genuine Porsche’ but pelican has them Hitachi for $385 regardless of engine size.

Edit: actually I was right, see the price tag for the s and gts models is also >$1,100 at pelican:
