NJ forest fires

We don't get them often. As I live in the northern forest this stuff terrifies me.

I recall some south along the parkway, mostly Pineland area. Every few years, less in recent memory. Don't recall any northern.

No we haven't had any and despite having some forest service in the area I wonder how prepared they are.

This is my neighborhood

I'm surprised you have one this early in the year, would have expected late summer once everything dries out. It is pretty scary the amount of damage they can do in a short amount of time.

Things have changed.

Use Calif. info to "fireproof" the surroundings of your home.

keep a vehicle well fueled with a "Go kit" in it.

What was going on in Calif 20 years ago is now happening in Oregon/Wash. The conifer forests of the East will be next (along with BC).

This surprised me as well. The wind had a lot to do with it. Report I heard is the fire jumped the Parkway due to wind.

Its been pretty dry around here. Has been red flag for a couple weeks. Brush fire originated next to a structure. Extremely high gusty winds. It just took off. Plus had multiple fires in other areas. We had 3 structure fires on top of other brush fires.
