Pretty damn good NFL career for a guy who was...
considered too small to play the position in the NFL by a lot of folks. Drew Brees announces retirement.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/saints-quarterback-drew-brees-announces-his-retirement-from-nfl/ar-BB1eA8sM?ocid=msedgdhp I'm a Steelers fan but I've always enjoyed watching people who play with a fire in them and Drew Breese DEFINITELY played with a fire in him. I'll miss watching him play the game.

It was time. He had nothing left to prove. A great career.

Seemed to be a first class man every day including today. His team should have time to plan/trade/draft for his spot. Well done Mr Brees.

I think they have Winston. It'll be interesting to see if Brees takes on a coaching position. They also have Hill but I'm not sure he's a real starter.

T.H. is a genuinely remarkable player. J.W. not so much and appears (to me) frequently and largely overwhelmed by the game. Time always tells but J.W. isn't new to the NFL.

No doubt Hill is a gifted athlete. But I think ultimately Winston is the better QB. Winston's decision making needs to improve and I think it will. Like you said, time will tell. I said the Steelers should have snagged Winston when he was available. I think he can be a good solid QB. A good QB with a back like Kamara should be enough to be a solid contender.

The Chargers had Brees and let him escape to New Orleans when they drafted Phillip River. Rivers came close one year, but Brees the ring.

Brees exhibited the classic over achiever year after year . The pundits and experts said he was too small and other negatives . Drew just worked his butt off and the results speak for themselves . And it appears he is just as good a father/husband/citizen . Thanks for the memories Drew and good luck with your next phase of life .

He was good at every level. I remember watching the Friday night high school recap on the local news in Austin. He was blowing it up, including his ACL!
Great talent, and even better person. Enjoy retirement Drew, you deserve it.

When Brees was at San Diego he was too good to show up for practice so he was not going to work out there either way. One of the reasons I don't have much respect for him as a person. He behaved very much a mamma's boy at San Diego.

I just read that. I thought he might go into a coaching position but I suppose talking about football on Sunday is a lot easier on you than coaching. He should have some really good analysis.
