It Is Obscene
Last night a Cadillac commercial aired on TV. The enticement was, "STEP UP TO A CADILLAC, YOU DESERVE IT." They just don't get it, that game of upward mobility has gone away just as there is no longer a broad based American Middle Class. Americans are now facing poverty, homelessness and hunger as their future. the reality of it has only been postponed by FED printing and US government borrowing. Cadillac might as well be peddling Heroin.
American have gotten used to prosperity bestowed upon them by the Great American Post WW2 Prosperity Bubble. They thought it would never end, and lived accordingly high on the hog. Now Americans in particular are stuck with the reality that the USA is a BK nation with a negative net worth of 84T USD. The seeds of the American Middle Class destruction were sown when Truman approved the Marshal Plan in 1948 to rebuild Europe and Japan economically. Americans funded and created their own competition. There was a reason why the Romans poured salt on Carthaginian land after they defeated them. |
Step up to a cadillac. You are entitled to it.

I'd like me a Cimarron

I am going to bring a little bit of light to this dark Tabsian thread <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IRaaOEvDXgA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I'm saving up all my stimulus money while waiting and hoping for the big Cadillac clearance sale.
I fear I'll come up a few thou short, though, and given that there's no more Pontiac I'm not sure what I'll do if that likely eventuality comes to pass. _ |
[QUOTE=fastfredracing;11263584]We referred to that as the cadillac cavalier
Wasn't the Cimarron the same as the Chev Citation? Or that and the Cav? |
Back to Tabs thread.
With all the money pumped into the hands of Americans....how can people not feel positive? The stock market reflects that. |
I remember my father coming home one day with a brand new Chev Citation.
He was really happy with it. It was two-toned pink/white. We looked at it and just laughed. |

Ah, Tabs' metaphor mixing and bald historical reinterpretations in the name of doom and gloom. Sort of hubris transferral, if you will. I've missed that.

There's stepping up. And there's stepping up......

Even those of us in the (relatively) secure upper middle class are shifting to conservative spending. Sure I know I got paid today, but tomorrow?
I'm more optimistic than some, so I think we'll shift to a more sensible place, but there's gonna be some tears. |

I'm happy with my stick shift Volvo but I can see getting a nice one of these would also be fun. https://daytona.craigslist.org/d/for-sale/search/sss?query=Allante&sort=rel |

|

Remember how everyone laughed when H. Ross Perot, running for President, explained that "gigantic sucking sound?" Thirty years later he's dead, and the great American middle class has vaporized. Sold our collective souls for the $8.00 polo shirt. And now 100,000 migrants per month are coming after the dream that left the building 30 years ago. Your $1400 will buy you about 24 hours of happiness, but the 30 trillion dollar bill will come due.

Often, as I drive around my neighborhood, I notice a very nice car being driven by an equally beautiful woman. I generally remark: "Looks expensive...".
I'm not referring to the car. |
