Cool!!! great picture & wonderful color!! We have a Boodog too named "Spanky." His coloring is scattered. It looks like he is wearing chaps (sp?). One of the many names we call him is our "urban pot belly pig" Have fun with your new puppy!!!

Here is a picture of Spanky cooling off in the summer and a picture of our friends' puppies from the litter that was after him.

Today he found our one year olds retired pacifier! Sarah, how long does it take for them to get the "bulldog" head? I can't wait till he fills out.

Again...another great picture!! You are going to have so much fun taking all sorts of pictures.

Spanky is our first bulldog & he will be 2 years old 12/18. I would say that recently we have noticed more and more how his head has gotten bigger and started to have more of the round & full look. We were told he is still not done growing and will still get wider and "drop" into his chest more too.

The whole first year he grew in different stages and went through what are called the "uglies." Some times his head looked bigger than his body and then other times his head looked small & long. Bulldog people said it is normal as their body is developing.

The people we got Spanky from have a web site and they posted pictures of the dogs at various ages. Here is the link.

www.northwoodbulldogs.homestead.com/index.html

When you get to it, click on the "our dogs" icon. Then you can click on the picture of the dog to see more pictures. Each dog then has a "photo album." (spanky is "northwoods little rascal").

I look forward to seeing more pictures of Flash!!

Our Flash is growing. The most recent photo is about a month ago in the snow. I guess he weighs about 30 pounds now. He is 5 months and his bottom jaw is starting to stick out. He still looks like a fat boxer to me!
Most of our photographic efforts are focused on our 14 month old son who just started to walk.

Flash looks like he is really coming along. Spanky had lots of growing spurts the first year. I bet your bulldog & son have a lot of fun in the snow.

Here is a more recent picture of Spanky & my husband at a dog show in St. Paul, MN. Tim really enjoys going to the shows and Spanky loves all the attention he gets.

First Post...Woo Hoo!

I'm new here. Joined because my hubby kept going on and on about things with his car (which I still don't quite understand) and I figured I'd better learn what he's talking about and keep up!

The dogs up above are SOOO cute! Frank and I were watching the Westminster (sp?) dog show the last 2 nights on TV and all the dogs are amazing! We had 4 dogs and are down to one blue-tick coonhound named Elvis...you never see them in any of the dog shows, but if you have ever seen the comercial on TV where the dog is driving the pick-up truck and the owner is in the passenger seat (I believe they end up in a lake)...that would be the dog that we have....all speckled and floppy eared..

I've attached a pic of what our dog looks like...this is not Elvis, but it looks just like him...

Take care!

Pam

Hi Pam,

Welcome to the board and thanks for adding a dog pic. Next to the porsche our dogs are our biggest conversation piece.

Unfortunately we did not see the big dog show (we are still resisting cable & satelite tv...we'd watch it too much )

What is your husbands login name and what type of porsche do you guys have? That is great that you joined the board to learn more. I'm picking up new things all the time.

Again...nice to have you on the board.

Great pictures. Looks like Flashe's dad has a muscular build & fuller face and his mom is more lean. I'm sure flash is still in growing spirts and he is probably very active. Spanky could not put weigh on when he was under a year and running around the house and yard like a crazyman. But now he has started to bulk up and have a fuller head. It took a while too for him to even get a nose bump.

Thanks for sharing these. Tim and spanky did really good at another dog show so when we get the prof pic back I'll post it.

We keep waiting for him to look like a bulldog. He seems a little lean. But we will try to be more patient. If Spanky had trouble putting on weight there is hope for Flash yet! Do you have any pics of Spanky at 7 months? He looks like he was a brute!

I have a lot of dog pics on the computer at home. I'll try to find some of him at/around 7 months. Compared to his litter mates his was the skinny one. I kept saying...when is my bulldog going to have a fat face & big body.

We also changed his food to a higher fat content for a while (Pro Plain lamb & rice and also Bill Jac are both two good ones).

People continued to tell us how Spanky was not very big...but some of those people were feeding their bulldogs cheeseburgers and I 'm not kidding. They just wanted a huge dog...where as we wanted muscular & healthy (ok..and I wanted bulk too but not by feeding him junk food).

Does Flash look okay buildwise for a 7 month old english bulldog? I am used to Rottwiellers. They look the same cradle to grave...

He does look a little lean/long...but so many of the bulldogs we have seen also had growth stages where their legs look long, then their head looks long, and it changes everytime you see them because different parts of their bodies are catching up to each other. One of our friends has a female show dog about 1 yr old and her face is more lean and square, but her mom has a round head. So I guess it is hard to really say.

Did the breeders have any pics of the parents when they were puppies-1 year? Maybe he had a leaner granddad or mom.

Are you guys happy with the food he eats? He might just be so active that he is not a fast weight gainer.

Just adult pics of the parents. I think their dogs are a little tall for the breed standard. Flash is insanely active. Our two boys egg him on.
I think the latest pic I posted is at about 6 months. I think he has widened out a little since that photo. We feed him large breed formula puppy chow. He eats alot. Maybe he will slow down a little in the near future.

Our two Shar-pei & bulldog chase all around the yard, jump on/off their cushion all the time and play dog all-star wrestling about everyday. We sometimes think the bulldog thinks he is a Sharpei.

Shawn - I emailed you the dog pics the other day. I was lazy and did resize the files to fit in the post. Sorry.

Got 'em. Spanky looked like a bulldog all along. I think my dog has bloodhound in him or something. He just looks too goofy. His dad weighed 55 pounds. Flash is 7 months and weighs 52! If he fills out he will weigh 70 or more!
