Another VW.....does this remind you of a budget early 911? In fact, it was designed by Ferdinand Porsche for VW. I used to own one

Me too!! That thing wouldn't die! (It wouldn't start in the rain, either!) The driver's seat mechanism was loose, so sometimes when I hit a bump, it would release and I would instantly go horizontal!

Ah, the memories....

Z,

They were a blast to drive. Back in the mid-90s, I was single and I drove a racing red Fastback. My dates always like being driven in it cos' they thought that is was such a "cute" car **eyes rolling here **

The Fastbacks with the lowered cookie cutter wheels sure look like 911s if one is not watching closely.....

By the way....if I recall correctly on Rennlist....aren't you the one who works at Daimler Chrysler? I work for Freightliner!

My '73 fastback was the racing red too! Well, racing red and rust two-tone, that is! When I gave my friends rides home from high school in my VW, they'd duck 'cause they didn't want to be associated with my rough car!

And yep: I work for DCAG: Mercedes Benz USA headquarters in North NJ.

Small world....

You guys must have had bad experiences with your fastbacks to have ended up with a Porsche other than a 911.

A 66 fastback was my first car, btw.

Z-man.....I also drove a 73...fuel injected...with 70,000 original miles....got her from a grandmother in a nursuing home...and appropriately named "Grandmama"....but I decided to give her up when I got married 4 years ago.....too many cars at the time.....and Grannie ended up getting totalled by the next owner

I was actually looking to buy this completely restored Fastback last year, but I ended up with the 944 and 951 instead. I decided not to get the Fastback because it had to be hauled from Canada to the States.
