It was an April fools day joke released prematurely. Seems like great marketing to me

I can't speak for everyone else but I've owned two Volkswagens and almost always say "Volkswagen" rather than just "VW".

Agree, I do think it might be a generational thing too. I say "vdub" too. However, I also say VAG a lot instead of VW/Volkswagen.

No doubt that's largely driven by Tesla.

Hell, Ford will sell more electric vehicles than VW.

Ford currently sells more gas vehicles in the US than VW. So what's your point?

Sorry you couldn’t figure it out, I thought it was obvious. It’s irrelevant now, since we know this was just a hoax.

Meh, if they can't even get the release date right on an April fools joke, do I want to buy a car from them?

ramonesfreak 03-31-2021 07:50 AM

Look what they did to the Mk8 GTI. They destroyed it. When I see what they did I think they are saying, ok here's your awful new GTI, we hate it as much as you hate it and we dont care. I think they just dont care about what they were or who it was that loved their designs

I cant fault just VW, I have been looking for a new car from all makers and it is very depressing to see what has happened. It has become nearly impossible to find a car I like with a manual transmission and analogue gauges

If I lived somewhere where there was no snow/salt, I would buy a Cayman and be happy, or an older BMW and not worry about what VW or anyone else is doing

Sorry, brother. I'm happy to explain the reference. Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch is a LA homicide detective in the Amazon series Bosch. The German-accented Harry does battle across the landscape of Southern California with Lucas, a wily British gangster and serial murderer, nicknamed the King of Darkness for his habit of "putting out the lights" in anything he touches. It's in it's sixth season now and makes great viewing.

Its march 31? Volts wagen? Stooopid! There is plenty of crude oil to last us for a life time. Them wimping out and doing the lectric thing just shows where we are headed. I dont know about you, but waiting for a car to charge when I have to be somewhere sucks...I buddys wife had a fully lectric car and it cost her $7 grand just to replace the stoopid batteries. What a waste..

I don’t own a Tesla but I do enjoy driving my Volt around town for an hour or so, waving at everyone and signaling my virtue. The townspeople throw flowers.

Even Elon Musk has commented on the obvious lack of electrical infrastructure to take over such an energy load. And yeah, the kids mining heavy metals in sh;thole counties... There's not enough production ... BUT, the people pushing the stoopid are most interested in destroying this country, so....
