Happy to do it. Trust me, I understand the legal risks but there is a point where you just go with it.

The day trippers are easy...put your stuff on my trailer, off we go to your car at the put in.

My brother had that happen with his (young at the time) son on a sea kayak out of the Potomac. He said "came outta nowhere" Me, I'm not so much for all that paddlin. I'm more a float a tube on the Rap kinda guy.

Be warned though! The Rappahannock rage is real. And it happens when the current isn't moving and you've got dinner reservations at 5.

I do too. I see it in one of my daughters particularly. If she were on a sinking ship and somebody survived, it would be her.

Scary stuff for sure! I've had a few of these over the course of my life, but this one stands out. I decided to take my small sailboat out on Mother's Day on Conesus Lake (one of the smaller NY Finger Lakes). I was moving right along, happy as a clam. A cold front (it was forecast) came blasting through as they do in Upstate NY and a gust flipped the boat before I could uncleat the line holding the sail. The water was literally ice cold. The boat went all the way over and the damn mast got caught on the bottom. As I was clinging to the centerboard a person came out from the shore and got me aboard. We put a line on the boat and pulled it free. He towed it to his camp where we eventually got it out. I was very lucky he saw the whole thing from his dock, as these lakes are pretty much empty this early in the year.

That sounds terrifying and I’m glad you’re ok. I would not want to have been in your shoes- or your kayak as it were.
