Princton NJ
So, our daughter (19) is away from home for Easter for the first time this year and we would like to send her a nice meal or something to keep her form getting too home sick.
She is in Princeton NJ helping with the vaccines out there and she finds out today if they will be staying in the same hotel so I should have an actual location later today. She is an adventurous eater and she also likes to knit/crochet. She likes hunting/fishing/shooting spots as well but figured NJ is not the place for those activities. She has yet to see a restaurant she would dismiss and the more obscure the food the better for her but I think natto might be the most obscure she would try, not balut. I guess the question is, once we find he final location, if there is any place that will deliver some fine food or knitting supplies or some interesting NJ thing? |
If she likes sporting clays she is near one of the best on the east coast. M&M is a bit to the south in Pennsville. And if she does go there i recommend stopping at Italian Kitchen just a mile or two down the road. Go with an empty belly though. It's not adventure food nor gourmet but it's worth the visit.

I should add, she does not have a car out there so she has limited mobility.
She was on the HS trap team so she does like clays. |
I went to a prep school just down the road from Princeton U. It's been about two years since I was last there, but there are some stellar places to eat nearby. Chuck's Spring St. Cafe is nothing exotic, but it's right past Nassau St. across from the main gate. They have the best wings in the world. A short bus ride down 206 to the Lawrenceville School is TJ's, a great pizza shop. They have great everything. You can't go wrong at most small pizza shops in NJ. Stay away from all chains.
In looking over Google Maps it looks like some of the other great places we used to eat in Princeton are gone. But generally that area has fantastic food. The bread can't be beaten. Again, stay away from chains. |
I lived in that area for a couple of years in the mid-to-late '80's.
One food place I will never forget is this one: https://thomassweet.com/ The first time I went there in 1986 or so I literally ran right into Brooke Shields. Well to be more precise, she ran into me. In the doorway, chest first. She apologized. The ice cream was delicious. |
If she’s into exotic foods, there is a large Indian population just north of Princeton.
It’s not to my taste so I couldn’t recommend anything but it’s there. |

Can Uber, or GrubHub/Doordash deliver fine dining meals from a local 5 star ?
|
Thanks guys, keep it coming.
We were wondering if any of those would deliver to where she is. |
Take a look at Goldbelly. https://www.goldbelly.com/
You can have foods from notable restaurants from all over the US delivered to wherever you want. We’ve had cuban sandwiches from miami and ribs from St. Luis delivered to us on the west coast. Even cake boss cakes are available. |
She is near Carnegie BLVD and US1 if that helps.

Do a search on Yelp, and sort by deliveries..
Princeton has many great restaurants, and is a beautiful town https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Restaurants&find_loc=Princeton%2C %20NJ&ns=1&attrs=RestaurantsDelivery |
Sorry, I don't trust Yelp. I figured someone knows the area and can give a personal recommendation.
