550 Spyder found?

No, not the missing James Dean Crash car... but I think an elaborate hoax...anybody here heard of it?

That shipping container is how old? 30 years tops?

porsche4life 04-03-2021 11:47 AM

Ya, they certainly knew it was there. It may have been stashed away, but I got the feeling the family has known they had it all along.

definitely seems staged.

don't know the line between staged and a hoax though.

Gogar 04-03-2021 02:02 PM

That's not much dust on there. Not even close.

It was last registered in '94 with "retro" plates.

So someone bought a 550, so what?

Por_sha911 04-03-2021 04:32 PM

Jimmy Dean's 550 found in storage container? Was Jimmy Hoffa's remains in the trunk?

Exactly what I was thinking, way too clean to have been in that container for so many years. I call BS on that one.

The article was in Zero Hedge. What are the odds that it was all on the up and up?

pwd72s 04-03-2021 04:59 PM

At first I thought it might be an April fools joke...you know, a fiberglass replica paraded as the real thing.

Evidently, it's the real deal...just that it wasn't really lost.

That is what I thought. Hagerty seems to verify.

“and to find one that’s been lost to time in a container … Well, that’s like finding a unicorn with bigfoot riding it.”

Great Quote.

Yeah, has to be lost in the first place to be "found". Mind you the term certainly gets peoples little hearts racing.
