At home now. My friend was so happy with the way the Roadrunner looked, he said it looked like a show model and put it in a display case.

I had a lot of fun building this one for sure.
I apologize for so many pictures but I hope y'all enjoyed them. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...db2cbcccd1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...429c5b265c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...872b2305d9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7cfdf41d8c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bcf1f089ea.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dc531fc2ff.jpg

Good skills!

Fantastic work.

Cool use of the cotton balls.

You are the expert. And I am in awe. But if I can contribute in some way....

A dremel with the appropriate bit is handy for carving out unavailable parts like front grills, lights etc.

WOW- awesome restoration, when do you ship it to Pebble Beach?

KFC911 04-04-2021 03:29 AM

Cool thread and project ... nicely done!

Very cool. One of the first bodywork and paint project I did with my dad was on a MOPAR 440 car ('70 Charger R/T). I really like the wheels.

In a similar vein, there is this thread on the 911 Technical forum. I am going to bump it for an update.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.

Thanks for the tip Bill. I used an X-acto knife and carefully trimmed the center section out. I kept test fitting the insert to see how it would fit and then trimmed accordingly being careful to not get into the inner headlights.

He's a pretty cool old dude that's for sure. He's an old school hot rodder and he has helped me in the past with my 1968 Dodge D100 when I had questions about the carburetor or changing the fuel pump, he would tell me what to do and he is usually correct, lol. He has a 1970 Mach 1 and once when he was going to check the timing, I asked if he had a timing light and he said, "no, I check it by ear". Lol. When he said he had built that model when he was 12 years old, and after he had that stroke, I thought it would be a good thing to restore the model, and in the process he picked up model car building again and I think it has helped him to focus on thing better.
Thanks for all the compliments on the restoration, it really means a lot to me that other people appreciate the time and effort I put into the build. [emoji846]
