ARRRGH! fixture parts ordering

A bathroom Nutone brand bath ceiling fan/light combo. LED light burned out. Removed the unit, a simple two pin plug. Called Nutone, got a parts number. Nice lady advised us home depot would have a much better price than ordering from them.

That's when the frustration began. Home depot..no listing of the part on their website.
Called the local store...transfer call to transfer call to transfer call. Only to finally hear:
"That's a nutone parts number not in our computer. You have to order from Nutone."

Over an hour wasted on the phone with home depot...the frustration.

Part ordered from nutone...it'll cost me close to what the entire assembly cost when I bought it...but finally, order placed.

Most of the morning shot. ARRGH! Life indeed has it's hassles, doesn't it?

No need to respond...just wanted to vent so I could stop bugging Cindy about how messed up even simple things have become...

We have a Nutone central vacuum cleaner I installed 21 years ago when we moved in. The circuit board that runs the unit would pop the circuit breaker for overheat. I looked up the part number and found it on the Nutone site. Then I searched for retailers on the internet. I found one that send the exact replacement, only the updated version. It even came with good instructions. Fixed the issue. And the parts were cheaper than buying direct from Nutone. Evidently to protect the dealers, Nutone charges full retail price to non dealers. The dealers buy it wholesale and mark it up to what they figure they want.

As an exercise, just Google or whatever search engine you like that part number. Just the part number. Several sites will show up.

NOW you tell me! ;) Thanks...will keep in mind for next time. Obviously, I'm not that good with puters. Well, just glad it's ordered...after a spell, I began to wonder if I'd have to buy a new unit just to get a light.
