Eliminator

The other day I posted about some cool models I scored recently, the ZZ Top Eliminator car being one of them. Well, that prompted me to get the album out and the ticket stub from when I saw them in Biloxi, Mississippi on the Eliminator tour. So, the album came out in 1983, I saw them on the tour in 1984, and the model is from 1985!!!
This is why I tend to hang on to things for a while. Lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bb00178119.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e901fb4ccd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...41211518d4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...23d6c529c2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8713ddad09.jpg

I wished I’d have seen them live. Nice find!

When I saw them first part of the show was Eliminator then stage changed into afterburner for the last half of the show. Those three guy make a lot of good music

Nice collection.. They were really good. I saw them several times. Most memorable was the Worldwide Texas Tour. They had live bison, longhorns, vultures, and rattlesnakes on stage.

I saw the car at the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame about 20 years ago.

I watched a documentary about ZZ Top on Netflix, that Texas World Wide Tour must've been crazy, I loved how they had buzzards behind and above the drummer!!!

I saw that tour also at Irvine Meadows.

I love ZZ Tops work. Their music is still iconic an unique.

When I was an assistant to the Texas House parliamentarian in 1997, they came to be honored by the legislature. Normally, honorary guests are just recognized when sitting in the gallery, but ZZ Top was on the dias of the house floor, and allowed to address the whole house and gallery.

It was going to be a long night, it was one of the deadline days for passage, maybe 2 am late. One of them took the speakers mic and said "I hear you guys are going be in for a long one today, what you all say we lock all the doors and have one big ole party" The place went nuts.

I met them in the back hallway off of the house floor, also known as the speakers hallway. Pretty cool day.

I saw them in concert three times over the long decades. The last time was 15 years or so ago and we all thought they were done touring. They just keep making music. I see a lot of "the were" in the thread. I know they have slowed down, even the Stones have slowed down the music making. The Wuhan virus slowed all tours down, but they have shows planned from June to October this year.

The car is iconic, no doubt. A little tame by design, methinks. Just enough but not over the top.

Billy Gibbons owns the car as well as a clone that is shipped to various destinations and museums for temporary display. He also owns Cadzilla and a few more.

Mr. Gibbons is also the narrator and occasional guest on the television show "hand built hot rods". It's one of the best car shows on TV IMO.
On many of the car shows they build crap I wouldn't care to drive, much less own.
But pure vision makes really, really good cars that I would dream of driving.

Trivia: Steve Strope is the owner of the custom car building shop Pure Vision LLC. Located in Simi Valley CA, the Pure Vision shop has taken home four Best of Show awards from the SEMA Show. Three from Ford in 2010, 2012, and 2014 as well as one from GM in 2013.
He's also a really good bass player. Could be a pro.
