If it keeps on rainin'...

I need to drag my canoe out there and get a pic of me "fishing" near the street sign.

This started happening after a developer bought and cleared the woods across from us and moved a bunch of dirt around to "flatten" and "smooth" maybe 1/8 of an acre right in that corner. Before then it may have held a puddle while actively raining but it would drain super quick.

We had some rain yesterday and over night - not a lot. But just as the wife took this pic is started a nice heavy soaking rain, still going off and on now several hours later, and such weather is expected over the next 4 days. I'll bet by morning it will have crossed road completely and be draining down the easement road next to my property and into a sinkhole.

Nice, thank goodness the developers "improved" things.

Makes you want to rub their noses in it and swat them with a newspaper like a puppy.

I am always amazed by these things. If you saw what I go though to get a permit cleared. As a land surveyor, it would amaze you that this happens, yet it does all the time.

A friend /customer of mine is going through this. A new subdivision went in behind him. The house behind behind him will be 3' higher than his house.

My.mind? Blown? How does the county engineering approve this?

I wrote bullit points for him to present for hearing he had.

I cannot get a single family residence approved unless I can demonstrate that we can drain the property properly.

When I see cral like you posted. It blows my mind.

Indeed 600ish acres of planted pines and mixed oaks set up for deer hunting, split up into 5-20 acre lots.

At least I'm not seeing a development entrance sign, just a couple of private driveways being set up.

I'm hoping a pic of me out there in my canoe sent directly to one of the county commissioners (he works at the same college I do) and maybe copying a state rep (who also works at the college) may get some movement on it.

That’s what I would do!

Tell the guy he has to fix it. Then go to the county, if needed. Then file a lawsuit, if needed.

That's bull****.

Send some of that rain toward Oregon - we're starting out the year too dry and some areas are on fire watch already...
