Congrats! Your persistence has paid off!

Though you can probably already flat foot that thing at a stop sign, right?

Congrats!!

I got my grandson a Strider bike.. (balance bike) Its basically a small bike with no pedals.. He got that when he was just over 2. When he turned 3 we added the pedals and he took right off with zero issues as he already learned all the balance work.. So now at 3 1/2 he's riding as good as most 6-7ish year olds.. crazy..

Highly recommended!! https://striderbikes.com/

I remember the day my daughter asked me to take her training wheels off. My son had just had his removed and she had to keep up with big brother. I told her she had to ride the length of our yard without the training wheels touching down before I'd take them off. She set off to practice and in about 10 minutes had done it to my satisfaction, so off they came.
Those first couple times were interesting, seeing how her brain finally learned you have to pedal and steer at the same time. Multi-tasking. Had a few crashes but by the end of the morning she had it down and never looked back. This was when she was about 2-1/2 or so. She ended up lettering in a varsity sport before her brother did. Soccer vs baseball, great times that went by fast.

Hey Dennis, I hope you are not the one who has to run after her. When we took the training wheels off my grand daughter's first bike, we weren't long breaking out our own bikes to keep up.
Here's to a great summer.
Best
Les

What a great day!!

One of the best things to come out of Covid was our older son (7) learning to ride his bike. Finally!!
We had bikes around since he was 3 and he just wasn’t interested for whatever reason... then it clicked when he wanted to keep up with the 5yo neighbor girl. 😆 LOL

Great memories!!

I needed to put mine on! A couple of years ago right before Christmas I was riding my bike over to the golf club, fell and broke my collar bone and pelvis. A friend came by while I was laid up with a “Christmas present” all wrapped up pretty...Buzz Lightyear training wheels. Talk about kicking somebody when they’re down.

Thank you all for looking. It's a little step up, with a lot of "look how you've grown". Not to be missed. IMO

That was a frustrating event around our house.
I had my son's training wheels off and he was riding with me behind in the big playing field by our house.
When my son discovered I wasn't holding on while he was riding, he promptly crashed and wouldn't ride without the trainers on again.
A few months later, we took him to a bike camp and the leader had him riding without the training wheels in about 5 minutes....
Kids...
