Too many people are standing on the stern. It's stern heavy.

Nah they're just lifting the windward end for takeoff.

HMS Nabob
Bogue-class USS Edisto (CVE-41), then refitted for Canuck Service
got a German Torpedo in the stern in operation against Tirpitz, but made it to Scapa flow under own power
then determined not worth the repair due to lack of free docks due to other war time production

beached and canabalized

I thought the HMS Bonaventure was our only aircraft carrier. I'm missing the joke, I guess.

Canada operated several small carriers in North Atlantic on anti submarine duty during the war.
Post war they were retired, but then the Soviets got active so we got the Magnificent (Maggie to her friends). When she was retired because we needed a vessel with an angled flight deck, as we were flying Banshees, we got the Bonaventure. It should come as no surprise that the crews referred to the ship as the Bonnie and the jets as Banjos.
Eventually the jets were retired and we concentrated on carrier based and shore based ASW aircraft.
The Bonaventure was scrapped just over 50 years ago.

It has to be at least half way sunk. Then we’d buy it it at 2x it’s worth , no less, plus pay you 2000% in maintenance contract over 30 yrs with penalty clause tilted wrong way.

She looks like a fine ship.

HMCS BONAVENTURE
Majestic Class Aircraft Carrier
HMCS BONAVENTURE

...............construction resumed in 1952, improvements could be built into her. The most notable of these was the angled flight deck, which provided a longer landing run without sacrificing forward parking space, and permitted the removal of the unpopular crash barrier. Also noteworthy were a steam catapult and a mirror landing sight, the latter going far toward eliminating human error in landing.

"Bonnie" was commissioned at Belfast on 17 Jan 1957, and arrived at Halifax on 26 Jun 1957, carrying on deck an experimental hydrofoil craft that was to serve in the development of HMCS BRAS D'OR. Unlike her predecessors, BONAVENTURE had Banshee jet fighters and Tracker A/S aircraft as her complement. Like them, she enjoyed a busy career of flying training and participating in A/S and tactical exercises with ships of other NATO nations............
What a deal, order an aircraft carrier and get a hydrofoil free!
