Makes you wonder
what they were doing in the back seat
https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/19/business/tesla-fatal-crash-no-one-in-drivers-seat/index.html |
From your link:
"The crash in the Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, killed a person in the front passenger seat and one in the rear seat of the car,...." |
Makes me wonder how Tesla keeps getting away with calling their technology "Autopilot"
I know and you know it's not really "Autopilot" but you have to know that there are plenty of rich morons, male, female, young and old that are going to take that setting at face value. Frankly, it pisses me off. I have to share the road with these addlepated lunkheads. |
Apparently in Germany Tesla are not allowed to advertise the car as having Autopilot. Maybe the US should make Tesla publish a retraction.
|
The vehicle can detect driver versus no driver, I'm guessing they did something to the car to bypass built-in safeties.
The car was also traveling 'at a high rate of speed', which I don't believe the 'standard' auto-pilot does. I wonder what went on here? |
It is hard to feel much sympathy for idiots that are riding in a Tesla WITHOUT a driver. I do feel bad for the families of the dead guys, but not for them. I honestly can not fathom getting in a car, any car, with no driver, and going at a high rate of speed. Maybe if it is on tracks like a airport tram, or a ride at an amusement park.
It was just two guys that "Darwined" themselves. |
e-lon now says Autopilot wasn't on at time of crash
|
I heard today on news radio that Elon says that particular vehicle wasn't fitted with the fully self driving feature and that what it did have wasn't activated. Also.....one of the 2 fatalities has been identified as a.....wait for it........... an anesthesiologist.
|
The US govt has so much money into their Wonderkins green dream car that they will turn a blind eye.
|
Still surprised the Feds allow driverless cars.
Who have to wear a seat belt but are not required to be behind the wheel? |
How was the car driving then Elon?

The existing cars with form of 'driver-assist' are configured to need constant driver input. I still think the code in the car was modified, I guess you could out a sack of potatoes in the driver's seat and have the passenger give steering inputs...but the car was also speeding, which AP doesn't allow, not to excess anyhow. Or the story is BS. |
the Feds and states allow driverless semi-trucks
they have a minder on board who is not supposed to sleep or watch videos... |
