The perfect cold spring day beer!

Been a while since I've had one of these. I forgot how good they are.
A syrupy bourbon taste that is different than any other beer I've had .
A barrel-aged ale. 11% abv by Founders.

man I wish I had some of those in the fridge right now

and a nice bowl of my wife's french onion soup

and some of her homemade fried mozzarella stix with marinara sauce

stevej37 04-21-2021 02:09 PM

^^^
Sounds like the ultimate combo! (I'm getting hungry)

cabmandone 04-21-2021 03:07 PM

I'm not a fan of the barrel ages Ale unless it's a Porter or Stout. The lighter beers ages in bourbon barrels just don't seem the same to me.

stevej37 04-21-2021 03:17 PM

^^^ Normally, I'm not either.
If you've ever had and liked KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) or their plain Breakfast Stout...guaranteed you will like the Backwoods Bastard.

It's not a beer to down when very thirsty....it's heavy.

cabmandone 04-21-2021 03:22 PM

So it's a darker beer? If so I'm in! I've had several brown and red barrel aged beers that I just didn't care for.

BTW. LOVE KBS

stevej37 04-21-2021 03:25 PM

It looks like coffee.

Skytrooper 04-22-2021 03:55 AM

If it is barrel aged, than for me it will always be Innes & Gunn. Although I do enjoy some Founders offerings, too.

[QUOTE=cabmando;11305022]So it's a darker beer?

In the interest of showing the color...I poured another one.
Now..what to do with it?....hmm. :)

They just announced today, a new beer.....All Day Vacay.

^^^ That looks great...I love mozzarella!

Yeah...it's not easily found..even around here. Their tap-room has all their offerings.

If you go to their website, they have a beer locater. (foundersbrewing.com)

ramonesfreak 04-22-2021 01:43 PM

Our Walmart has it...but every Walmart has their own distributor.
If you have 'Meijers' there...they have it.

Try some of Revolution's 'Deth' series if you can. Not sure if it's available outside Chicago, though.
