What a sweet, sad story. I am glad she finally found some peace.
Favorite songs of course include Alice's Restaurant. Also Fortunate Son, Run Through the Jungle, most anything by CCR, War! (What's it Good For?), Bungle in the Jungle, and When the Tigers Broke Free. I actually started reading about the battle of Anzio after hearing "Tigers" and was heartbroken to learn that it was historically accurate. |
CSN "the Cost of Freedom".

The Rooster.

Soldiers by Drowning Pool is one of my favorites right after Rooster.

I would also add to this list, Fortunate Son. |

I was going to say "Billy Don't Be A Hero" by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods but this one's better. As applicable today as it was when it came out....

The Allies after being stalemated at Monte Casino decided on an end run landing at Anzio. It caught the Krauts with their pants down as the landing was unopposed and no Krauts were in the vicinity. Yet due to the cautious ineptitude of an American general who dug in instead of seizing the day to capture Rome gave time for the Krauts to contain the landing. The Krauts called it the biggest prisoner of war camp. It wasn't until June 44 that the stalemate was broken at Monte Casino and Rome was liberated. The Krauts retreated in an orderly manner establishing a new defensive line further up the Italian peninsula. Which lasted till the end of the war. As an aside Dr Porsches contribution to Anzio was the deployment of his Elefant aka Ferdinand after Dr Porsche..as an effective tank destroyer with it's 88 MM gun. It had proven to be ineffective as an offensive weapon during the battle of Kursk in July of 43. |

I am a blood thirsty mterfker
Put a gun in the hands of the children and send them out to kill. I've got blood in my eye beat em with a stick, beat em with a bone, beat em with a bullet, beat em with a bomb. But beat em into the ground Don't leave anyone standing around This is the land of kill or be killed there ain't no such thing as mercy It is me and mine..or else |
Call me savage
Call me beast But I am here to put you into the ground While I beat my breast While I wave my flag Rape and pillage Kill their children Salt their ground So that they can never rise again End their days while I breath my air Send em to he11 |
