Of course whenI went to buy some red loctite they were sold out. I put Teflon tape on the threads and so far so good.

I think you want Loctite 545, not just 'red'...

I gotta ask... those banjo fittings are pretty rock solid reliable. This makes me wonder if there is either something wrong with your pump putting out too much pressure, your rack being too restrictive, or maybe you modified things to the point that your stock system isn’t up to the task anymore.

Which is it?

I agree, a 'proper' banjo fitting does not leak, not at normal PS pressures...

All stock up to this point. When the first high pressure hose went bad I replaced it with a stock line. The metal end that goes to the pump and excepts the banjo fitting never sat flush. I always had a slight leak and took it to a mechanic. He used the stock washers and added a crush washer above and below the stock washers. It worked for a little over two years then started leaking badly again. The new line is all good. No leaks. Time will tell. Now I’m just letting all the residual oil burn off.

If it never sat flush. Rough casting needs to be machined smooth?

Perhaps. There was an adapter someone installed between the pump and line that takes the banjo fitting. I took it off and that’s when it sealed. I am going to stick with my Tacoma. While the WRX has been a great car at 286,000 miles it has so many oil leaks I just don’t want to deal with them. Too much engine in a tight space and I have fat fingers.
