Rap music WTF?
I called the county's building safety because I had a beef with a young bone head inspector. Of course, I was put on hold. I left it on speaker phone and walked off talking to to my drywaller. He smiles and ask, "when did you start listening to rap music"? Then I noticed, it was blaring rap out of my little phone. I am OK with elevator music or something, but rap? Who decides that? BTW, the bone head was straighten out by his boss.

Hopefully it was pimping and drug use rap

Sorry, but rap isn't music, it isn't an art form, you can't have crap without rap.
|
its music. it might not be my music..but its somebodies music.
I would go full immersion in RAP if my only other choice was interpretive jazz. :) |
Bought a used CD player off fleabay. Powered it up, Whiz Khalifia's Rolling Papers came out. Listened once, then threw in garbage.
Rap used to be about giving a show. Modern mumble rap is junk. Unimaginative, boring and same dumb repetitive themes. All the artists are interchangable. |
Well, at least it wasn't country music. That would be cruel and unusual punishment.:)

Rap seems to have devolved back to music's most basic elements. Not much different than early humans chanting while they pounded a hollow log with a stick. My folks couldn't stand the rock and blues music I listened to as a teen, but even they could tell the difference between the Allman Bros., CS&N and Hendrix. |
It was the typical yelling, or whatever you call that, talking really fast and that freaking beat that drives me up a wall. I can take disco all day long compared to rap. I can't stand that techo dance music neither. But damn, for back ground music while people wait for a call at teh county?

Grand Master Flash Public Enemy Dr Dre Some NWA (I'm not that big on them) I drew the line when the lyrics went sideways, IMO. My oldest son loves 90s music and for the most part - I couldn't stand the stuff and was vocal about it. I'm a passenger in his car with his brother and one of his friends. On the radio is Ray Charles singing "Georgia On My Mind". I commented to them "Now this is music, not the crap all of you listen to". Well the song changes quickly into a rap song sung by Ludricris. The 3 of them just busted out laughing. That was a humbling moment. They still laugh about it. It is tame compared to other rap songs. Ludacris, Field Mob - Georgia ft. Jamie Foxx - The link is below. https://youtu.be/_kH_EZF0XqM |

Gotta be considerate, though. Some of the lyrics are atrocious. But I’m all over the map too. Here’s my Apple Music recently played... schizophrenic http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1619565475.png |
I like rap, and I like it more when some old fat white dude starts whining about spelling crap with rap. Ehem.
Too bad some of you old fat white dudes won't spend some time listenin' and examinin' rap, lots of it is VERY complex, multi-layered works that take 5, 10 times as long to master together in the studio than some jingle jangle country song. Yeah, there's lots of "make a dollar" pop music style rap, but there was lots of "make a dollar" pop music junk from CCR and ZZ Top and The Eagles and on and on... |
The county building safety department is playing rap muzak?
I suppose it's the same thing as that 80db 8-bit scratchy and repeated classical muzak. (i.e Designed to make the caller livid before the start of the conversation. "Like, we doan care yall") |
