Getting tired of the 'back and forth'

Circles are much more fun! :)

Plus, you can get the lovely circles and you don't even need to be there. Just tie your self propelled to a stake and let it do its thing!

When I was a teen, I mowed lawns for money. I've pretty much always found a pattern that worked for me in any space, and usually stuck to that pattern. It is easy and efficient, so why change.

At our new place, I have yet to find a good pattern. There's too much space, it's broken up by fences, full of trees and buildings and stuff. I haven't tried circles, but my pattern is all over the place.

Are you sure that aliens didn't land in your yard?

LOL ...A real pro would mow like a random orbital polisher ... so yer not gonna get paid!

Nice :)

I know the center point by mowing from the outside in.
So...I start in the center and work out.

The JD has cruise control....so if I did the stake thing, I'd have to wind the rope up first on the stake. SmileWavy

Cool...someone gave me a star for my mowing job! lol

cabmandone 05-12-2021 12:37 PM

Tell the truth. You didn't take my advice and close one eye did you? :)

stevej37 05-12-2021 12:44 PM

^^^ Nope...was getting too dizzy from from the round and round.

Cut back on the two hearted ale man :)

masraum 05-12-2021 01:03 PM

We know the truth. Steve had one of the turtles mow while he drank beer.

"somewhere around 10 minutes in, I lost my cookies"

stevej37 05-12-2021 01:37 PM

Believe me...I've tried using the fender cup holders for a beer. My lawn is not the smoothest and the beer is terrible after one mowing round.

As for the turtles...they are worthless. All they want to do is lay around and soak up the sun.
They have no desire to earn their keep. :)

Thats actually how i mow my lawn. Or sometimes just zig zag to wherever the high spots are

stevej37 05-12-2021 02:27 PM

^^^
I try not to mow the same pattern more than once in a row.
The outside, of course, is hard to avoid that.

After rains...you can really notice if repeating the same pattern.

No lawn is even easier! Pine straw out to the golf course so I look out at green grass that somebody else maintains.

Pine straw? Is that the pine needle accumulation?

Nice setting!

Ever get one thru a window?

I could not handle random people walking around that close to my house... you city people are a strange breed...

mattdavis11 05-13-2021 09:27 AM

I used to love mowing. The satisfaction when it all looks great, knocking back a cold one afterward. I don't miss it now.

Grass should be cut in a different direction each time for maximum heath and growth. I would, as most greens keepers do, cut around the clock. The yard we have now isn't worth it, our mower doesn't even have adjustable wheels. Fine by me, I don't mow it.
