Want to become wealthy and save lives
I follow a couple news stringers and the devastation and lives lost from wrong way drivers is ridiculous, especially in California. There has to be a safe, effective, inexpensive way to stop this from happening. Some sort of device to stop these people. Police officers sometimes risk their lives and drive into these wrong way drivers if you can believe it. One died in Florida a month ago trying to stop a wrong way driver.
These wrong way accidents almost always result in death. https://youtu.be/gPxW5g-qKek |

I've often wondered why the parking lot one way tire tings aren't used. Probably won't work with exit ramp speeds, though.

about 30 years ago i locked my keys in the car. my parents were out of town so when i found a pay phone i called my granpa to pick me up and take me to get the spare key. he picks me up and hops on the expressway using the exit ramp instead of the entrance…i yelled whoa nelly pull over. i backed us out ……scary. so i can see how these things can happen

Gon fix it with me hammer

I would think for the most part roads by now have been designed so it's blatantly obvious that you're going down an exit way in the wrong direction.
At this time you either have to be blind drunk, sky high, senile or suicidal to go the wrong way. At least it is here in Belgium.. And yes it does happen, but if you ask me how to fix it, I would say, put more cops on the roads to patrol and get bad drivers OFF the road before they do harm. And it's not that difficult to spot them.. just drive around and you see em everywhere. swerving from lack of attention (phone) or lack of ability (old age) or lack of sobriety, or lack of driving skill (bought or foreign or cheated drivers license).. But at least here in Belgium you have a bigger chance of winning the lottery then finding a cop on the road doing patrol (instead of finding cop on his way to some kind of intervention/meeting/whatever) I know, because I'll admit since moving back to Belgium my driving has gotten worse , speeding etc , the chance of getting caught is next to nothing if you keep your wits about. In Holland driving was better because you'de see the cops pull folks over regulary.. that keeps you honest.

Where's that dead horse I beat on regularly?
No amount of Tech or deterrents will stop this. Advanced driver training is the only real solution. And while I know disagreements are coming, please cite your Advanced Driver Training history before claiming "I'm an excellent driver and nobody can teach me anything better!". Until folks are operating under a similar set of guidelines taught by a similar set of course curriculum, we get what we get. I recently had a lengthy debate with a friend on this and he's had zero advanced training, yet he told me I was wrong and my training has little merit compared to his 8 years of driving, total. He's 24. Back to the horse now...heeYAH! heeYAH!

You guys think you have it tough. There is wrong way and wrong side of the road. Here in "Drive on the left hand side of the road" New Zealand we have about 10,000 Americans and Germans yet to figure that out.
Phew, I had one encounter while riding the Honda. I could see their look of surprise when they figured out they were on the wrong side of the road. That reminds me I'll have to trade the Honda in on a large truck. |

My late FIL, who was legally blind, was actually granted a license renewal appointment here in CA. When my wife (his daughter) told the DMV that they were about to renew the license of a blind man, they replied, "Don't worry, we'll have someone help him thru the vision test" ![]() Manufacturers are catering to this new crop of distracted drivers with questionable skills in other ways too. A hundred years ago, owner's manuals instructed people on how to adjust valves, change the oil, and replace the spark plugs. Nowadays, manuals have to warn people not to drink the contents of the vehicle's battery!
