Word program recommendations.

Bought a new laptop from Best Buy. Got a good deal on another Lenovo as I enjoyed it's functions.

However I was less than satisficed on the high pressure tactics on ancillary items and Office Suite.

I now need a Word processing program....that's all. Can anyone recommend a free or cheap program online? One with no spyware, prompts to buy crapola etc.

Has to be downloadable as the machine has no disk drive. If someone has a working program on a flash drive that is workable as well.

Google docs. Works well, nothing to download, saves as you go, files can be downloaded as a word doc. Cant think of a reason to not use it.

Not shareware, Free software. There is a difference. It is Free (libre). The fact that it is also free (gratis) is just a side effect.

+1, my computer actually has the full microsoft office suite (including Word) and I still use Google Docs for everything... it is the superior product, it's free, and everything lives out in "the cloud" so if you run over your computer no sweat: all of your docs etc are safe and you can access them from any computer, anywhere in the world.

Joe Bob, go to https://docs.google.com/ and enjoy. If you don't already have a Google login you will need to create one (they will prompt you), but this too is free.

I use Word 97 SR-1.

All I want to do is type up a simple document. It works well. So what's that, 24 years old and still good. Thanks Mr Gates and sorry the marriage didn't work out so well.
