Anyone use a Caveman?
Menards has these for $165....hooks up to your bbq grill tank.
Looks like a fast way to do a good steak. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-J86de91T3M" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Oops!...I had the price wrong. $151 after rebate.

Read some reviews/comments....nothing bad mentioned.
I'll pick one up tomorrow and hopefully report back with a good review. |
seems pretty tiny, only 11x17 outside dimensions.........I like the overhead IR unit burner, so fat doesn't drip down onto it.
how many Turtles can fit ? |
mmm....grilled turtle on the half shell!
I looked at one at Menards today and it looks plenty big for a couple steaks at a time. Or one big ribeye...love the ribeyes! |
infrared is the best!
heats up in minutes and sears in the flavor. Try grilling seafood or chicken. |

Wow. I've wanted a salamander for years, and that sucker might be the ticket. I have an Unni converted to gas with a cajun burner and that would work too...
|
Just got it home...thought I would take a couple pics while it is still clean!:)
2nd pic shows the LP heating element. I'll prob try it out tomorrow...it's very windy today here. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1621960048.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1621960101.jpg |
what are the dimensions of the cooking tray that the meat goes on?
|
10.5 X 6.5
Plenty of room for one big steak or two big burgers.....all the room that I'll need. Picked up a package of 'Prime Rib Steakburgers' also. Will try those first. |
|
why not just use the broiler in the kitchen?
I like it tho. youre gonna melt that cheese on the burgers like a Rockstar. |
|
These things look very small......what if you want to cook 3 steaks? You need 3 caveman? OR 1 person eats and the others watch?

They are available in three different sizes. This one is the smallest...the only one Menards had in stock. Trial stage here. Was just looking at the user manual.... 1580 degrees F when cooking. All parts are food grade stainless steel. Designed and patented in Germany Built in China! |
[QUOTE=vash;11342860]why not just use the broiler in the kitchen?
Hood exhaust won't do the job on a smoking/searing steak. Plus..this thing is supposed to do it in less than half the time...see the video in post 1 |
Speaking of infrared, the burner looks similar to
a Solaire grill I've owned for nine years. The Caveman has the burner on top, the Solaire is below. Caveman price can't be beat, but I doubt it will last like a 'made in USA' Solaire. video of Solaire infrared, and droolworthy steaks: https://youtu.be/UPTAsUkqIlg?t=120 |
