They've got 3 or 4 or more of the best players on the planet, but they never seem to be able to advance. They've got speed, fire power, good goalies, Tsk Tsk

They have two of the best, not three, definitely not four. That's a big difference.

And they were let down by their goalie. Again.

Regular season mirage. When players really make an effort to shut down the stars they can do it.

I'm surprised by four straight, but there was a lot of luck favoring Winnipeg. An OT game is a coin flip, they just lost four very close games. They were never blown out.

ABC used to have their Superstars competition in Hawaii and my prep school was where some of the events were held. We used to get lots of autographs back then. I swear Earl Campbell's thighs were about the size of my waist!

Cursed by their managerial old boys network that doesn't understand it's no longer 1980. a team full of marginal overpaid players is a problem in the cap era.

My recollection is he only ever managed once. Gold medal 2002.

He only coached in AZ, he certainly never stayed long enough to take them anywhere.

He never managed in Edmonton either. He was part of the 'old boys club', but not in a significant way.

Caps lost to a good team, they also had some internal issues. Kuztenzov was not dressed for some reason....

Pens are too old I'm afraid. Crosby is still great, the surrounding cast isn't.

Crosby is really good. His ultimate greatness days ship has sailed. Future HOFer but on the down side of the curve.
Ovi played injured and the Caps goalies had more holes in their play than a cullender.

1990: Yes, he was a coach in AZ but it still manager as opposed to player. (I used the term with some creative license to make a point). The best salesmen are usually terrible sales managers.
