Goldbelly Food Delivery

Ok. So I was reading about this company Goldbelly that delivers food from all over the country. Peaked my interest. Honestly, there are some good restaurants locally but not great, stand out meals. Goldbelly allows you to order from all over the country and some foreign places. Has anyone used this?

I have order some thing for the coming week. I'll update as it comes in.

Looking forward to seeing what you get. Wonder how I can get my lobster bisque, birria tacos and Mumbai goat curry listed.

Is this cooked food? I know from ordering from local restaurants that are 10 mins away you’re on the edge of quality compromise.. I checked their site and it didn’t really pique my interest. I don’t mind reheating my home cooked food, but somebody else’s? Buying frozen quality products ok if you’re sure they’re fresh when frozen. I’m seriously picky though.

I'll be the first to order the lobster bisque

I received two orders:

One was a brisket from Snow's BBQ in Texas. Wanted to try that after watching a Netflix show about the pit master. It was good but not great.

The second order was from Niko Niko's, a greek restaurant in Texas. I can not say enough good thing about this order. The spanakopita was amazing as was the baklava.

Man, if we lived in Houston, we would eat there all the time.

I was concerned that gourmet food would not travel well. Good to hear at least some of it travels somewhat well. I love Greek food and it is hard to get around here. Niko Niko sounds great!
Thanks for the review. We'll give it a try.

A great atmosphere elevates good food, this is why people like going out for dinner with friends to nice places.

Sometimes having great food delivered cold to your home might lose some of it's appeal.

Isn't Goldbelly ridiculously expensive? (Or am I thinking of some other overnight food delivery outfit?)

Around Christmastime, I looked into getting that "Tom Cruise" cake for someone as a holiday gift. Somehow my Google search hit on Goldbelly first. Holy smokes, they wanted $100! For a cake! I looked at the bakery's website, and I think the cake is $50 directly from them.

Goldbelly is expensive, I looked up the spanakopita. I'm tempted to get some from the Greek pizza place (they make it themselves) down the street and some baklava from any of the Armenian markets around the corner and send down to Stephanie for a taste test. I had some baklava 2 weeks ago at one that was out of this world. Truly home made.

Shaun, I would love to taste test from your local place. My husband's grandparents were greek and I do have a couple recipes for Pastitsio and moussaka from them. But I didn't get to spend lots of time with them before they passed to learn it all.

We live in a weird area where there isn't a lot of great food with variety. Now, I can drive to Charleston (2hr drive) and we do at least 1x month just for a meal but sometimes I want something different here at home.

One of my coming shipments will be dumplings of various kinds. I have not found any restaurant in our area that makes any soup dumplings. Sure, I can get siu mai local or potstickers but no bao. I have attempted to make some dumplings in an attempt to duplicate what my son got while in Hong Kong but that has been impossible. They are good but not how he remembers.

Goldbelly is giving me a chance to mix up my food a little. You guys who live in diverse cities are really lucky.

Xiao long bao are pretty involved for a home cook to make... not impossible.. but...

Some really good places in NYC and Flushing pivoted to take out, and mail order because dining rooms were closed because of covid..

I'd recommend Nanjing Xiao long bao...

Unfortunately, Joes Shanghai in Flushing burned recently (quite mysterious ;P )
