Cool, I'd watch that. I like Mark Wahlberg. I think he's good at action movies, and his personality comes across as likeable on screen.

All I want to know is...HTF does he stay so fit?

Steve Carlton 06-10-2021 07:47 AM

Looks like it's streaming on Paramount+ starting today and goes to theaters in September. Some weak reviews, but I'd like to see it, anyway. You can do a 7 day free trial with Paramount+, then it goes to $4.99/mo with ads or $9.99/mo without ads. All these streaming services are driving me nuts.

I like Chiwetel Ejiofor in this- he was the operative in Serenity and I liked him in Redbelt as well.

He has 3 nipples.

I thought the trailer, that was on NBC, said opening Friday. Did that mean just for streaming? I always thought streaming came after the theater opening.

Steve Carlton 06-10-2021 09:36 AM

The trailer you posted said streaming June 10th. I think movies that aren't expected to be very successful go to streaming first- it's got to be a lot easier with a lot less expense, so maybe the net is better. I went to the theater and saw Army of the Dead and it was available for free on Netflix a week later. Netflix acquired the distribution rights. All kinds of crazy things going on. Not worth it to me since I live alone, but you can see new movies on streaming services for up to $30.

I think changes in the world due to Covid have had significant impact on the movie industry and how movies are released. Lots of movies have been postponed due to Covid, and I imagine lots of income hasn't been realized by the movie industry. They missed last summers blockbuster season and I think a bunch of stuff usually releases to a mini season during the holidays. I imagine the income for most companies that make movies was practicalyl nil from what it usually is. I think that has driven streaming to the forefront, because everyone stuck at home can still stream.

stevej37 06-10-2021 10:17 AM

I just now checked the schedules of Netflix and Prime for streaming of Infinite. (I have both)

Netflix has no word of it. Prime says available now on Paramount streaming.
Weird...I'm not prepared to sign up for Paramount also.

Streaming is becoming like cable tv.
If you want to view a certain show/movie...there is only one package to get it.
Any other show...must get another package.
On and on....

Everyone wants their piece of the pie. Everyone cancelled their $100 cable and then a few years later, everyone is subscribed to 10-20 services that cost $5-10 each.

Over the top, high quality CGI action. Ridiculously unrealistic stunts, with a silly plot. A Marvel/Matrix/Kingsman hybrid- proof that a movie needs a good story.

stevej37 06-10-2021 02:36 PM

^^^ Ahh..another movie to leave disappointed.
Very common nowadays.

He has great genetics, trainers, eats right, probably on TRT, but most importantly never let himself get out of shape. The last one is key....

The Trailer looks good but the reviews are in the toilet. 22% on Rotten Tomatoes but it's only just been released.
But it has an interesting back story so I'd still like to see it.

A full time chef and nutritionist plus 4 to 5 hours every day in the gym.

vash 06-10-2021 07:56 PM

It’s streaming on Paramount +. I’m 5 minutes in and had to shut it off to take a nap. I have staff jacking up a bridge over I-80 tonight, and I’m trying to show some support. I’ll catch it in the morning if I don’t go fishing. Midnight to 6 am. Faack

OK so that was different in a good way.
- At times it reminded me of the Charlie Theron movie "The Old Guard".

Lots of CGI and it was obvious. Had they spent a bit more time on the effects and maybe some better acting in parts it could have been a good movie. The best thing I can say about it: It's entertaining and better than the 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (It was 22% earlier)

mattdavis11 06-11-2021 04:49 AM

I can never get over his past. He was a member of New Kids on the Block, and also Marky Mark and his funky bunch. Then he goes on and is Dirk Diggler?

Good for him, not for me.

stevej37 06-11-2021 09:36 AM

^^^ Wasn't DD just a movie part he played?
I'm sure he was offered some money for the work.
