Well we did it
As many of you saw in my previous post, we were considering getting out Porsche Ownership. Originally, I thought we would hold on to the 930 a little longer. That did not happen. I am happy to say a fellow pelican came down with some friends and offered a fair price for both Porsches and the Lotus and we said goodbye yesterday. This marks the end of 16 years of loving restoration and ownership of the 911 (our first Porsche), 2 engine builds (911 and 930), 2 trannys (911 and Lotus) and complete suspension redos on both the 911 and 930. We hope the new owners get as much joy driving these cars as we have.

Even though it was time, if you are like me, you stood and watched as your labor of love was driven away.

I did the same thing with my factory 914-6. Engine/Transmission, rust repair, structural, paint and lots of interior work. Needed money for the business, so sold it to a person in Germany.

Glad to hear they’ll remain in the Pelican fold. Whoever you are that bought them...congrats!
Remember...pics, or it didn’t happen. |
That's quite an event, Stephanie. All 3 sports cars gone.
I know that most here have bid farewell to their babies at some point in their lives and can all relate. Stay strong and remember the good times...... https://media.istockphoto.com/photos...I2HjnDCpZ7HSg= |
Post some pics of the cars please, we'd all like to see what you built and loved and cherished and let go to brighten someone else's life, creating more years of memories and happiness.

I think you made the right choice but only you and your husband know for sure. The last project I bought was four years ago. I had sold my shares in a company I owned and was convinced I wanted to start wrenching (at my level) again. 1980 SC Targa. I love Targa's. I got busy again with a new business right away and the Targa never left the trailer. I sold it to a guy in PA and towed it up for him. Like I said, it didn't leave the trailer for almost a year and a half:cool: All the best on what's next! |
This is yesterday morning as we laid out all the original stuff that came out of the cars

I don't know what comes next but my husband and I both felt good about everything as we watched the cars drive away. And this morning, we got up and still felt great about the decision. I know the new owners will love the cars as much as we did so that helps. I'm excited to see what happens next.

That is great to hear Stephanie.
I know when my SC left it was a relief to me knowing it wasn't going to break on me and leave me wishing I had the money to fix it. Hope the new owner posts some pics as I'd like to see the cars too. |

Everyone will be happy to read that both Porsches were driven to church (or something like that) :D already this morning. The Lotus is still on the trailer. The 930 also got to play with a Guards Red '86 coupe that recently moved into the nearby garage of another Pelican just a few weeks ago. Still haven't turned on the radio or yet, despite there being a beefy sound system installed. Just listened to the motor the whole way back. And I haven't REALLY gotten on the 930 hard in 3rd or 4th gear yet, but that turbo whine and exhaust sounds are addicting. I can already tell that I will need to find a clear, straight road when I finally do it. :) |

That was FAST! Now, off to a new, Porscheless, life. MrsWD and I wish you well.
