As many time s as I have tried to help someone with severe problems about half the time I have been sorry I put forth the effort. Now I know that's no reason to quit helping but I'm a lot more selective anymore and take things day by day. No more than that.
When people are getting help and kindness from those more fortunate, they need to earn back the favor. Mostly I have been a little soft with construction people that had alcohol problems. If they were drinking they didn't get to work that day. One chance to right that or adios forever. |
great stuff WD. inspirational and everything. i like how you listen and hear peoples stories. a gift.
nothing else to add here. not making this even remotely about me. hahah. :D |
Thanks for posting that.
It was refreshing to hear about people just trying to make it in a challenging world without judgement or blame. |
Thank for sharing these stories puts everything into perspective, doesn’t it.

Art showed up for work Monday and tried to hand me some money.
"I think you gave me too much." "No, I gave you what I wanted to give you. Keep it." This kid sure never got a participation trophy. I almost said, "You need the money worse than I do," but I think that would have been insulting. Maybe simply pushing more money on him than he thinks he deserves is insulting to him. I keep telling him he's doing a great job, trying to get him to see that he is worth more than he thinks. |
Thank you. I needed to read this. Made me smile on a day I’m not smiling.
