I don’t make the sandwich ahead. Ingredients in one place, bread separate. That way the bread doesn’t get soggy.

But then, it doesn’t carry the visual of a topless nun, so maybe I still have something to learn.

You know what makes a good office sandwich? a generous smear of Wasabi.

Real wasabi is much, much better than the fake stuff, and extremely similar to horseradish. I think the fake stuff is mostly just green tinted mustard like in Chinese mustard, but w/o the vinegar.

Similar for me, its either: cheap, fast, healthy- pick 1. Mrs Gambler packs my lunch every evening for the next day. Canned salmon on low carb wheat with a little Old Bay sprinkled on top, small salad, etc. I'm Blessed she does that for me

You've inspired me! Tonight on the menu:

Hebrew national hot dog+swiss+ketchup+mayo. :D

I don't waste time making a complicated lunch. Two pieces of bread in a bag, then I make a peanut butter sandwich in my office. Thirty years now, still not sick of it. Cheap fast, gets me through the day.

Vash - that's funny! We've been together for 20+ years, she volunteered from the start as I was doing my own. AND she writes a little positive note everyday

That's (to me) the great thing about hot dogs. There are probably hundreds of ways to make a hot dog and many/most of them are good.

We used to live just down the road from both locations of this place. They've got really great hot dogs.

Thinking that "only a hotdog with ingredients (fixin's) X, Y, and Z is good or acceptible," is like saying only women that are 5'5" - 5'7", 110-125#, with blond hair, and blue eyes are attractive or worth my time. You're REALLY missing out.

Hebrew dogs are a bit "garlicky". I prefer Nathans.

But I don't think it will really matter the way you are making yours! :D

vash 06-23-2021 08:24 AM

damn. i love hotdogs.

Nathans for me as well. toppings are wide open.. i did a Bahn Mi version before and it was awesome. but i had extra pickled carrots and daikon.

I put almost more cheese on my hot dog than dog!
Plus hot mustard.

stevej37 06-23-2021 08:33 AM

Had a couple yesterday....they are great.
Mustard and fresh onions on them...that's it.

today's lunch, chorizo burger on double sided griddled Portuguese roll with cotija cheese, a spicy pepper tomato salad and red onion. Mom's pickles from her garden. 3 paper towels required.

The place that I linked above, in addition to their regular selection of hotdogs does a "dog of the month" and once did a Bahn Mi dog.

masraum 06-23-2021 09:00 AM

Damn, I've got several hot dogs in the fridge, and just got some new stainless flavorizer bars for the grill, but I need to save the hot dogs for the grandsons who will be here later and for the next several days.
