Daughter started guitar lessons today

And she loved it! I was so happy. The two songs she asked the teacher to show her were Let It Be and a Mazzy Star song called Fade Into You

Fade Into You is an awesome song.

My daughter decided over spring break last March that she wanted to learn how to play guitar. She sat down with my acoustic and her iPhone and starting looking at tabs. I chuckled and told her it's not that easy and beginners get discouraged easily. Now she's playing Arctic Monkeys songs.

It is so much easier for them today with you tube, and online tabs . My son, now playing for about 4 years , is almost as good as I ever was . I love to hear the sounds of him noodling coming from our house .
Like !

I had that same situation about 11 to 12 years ago.
She started at age 6, and was playing a $30 small acoustic.

Going to be a Senior (High School) this fall, and is planning on studying classical guitar performance afterwards. Has been studying with a couple recent graduates from that program for the last 3 years.

Mainly, I’m posting because her senior pic’s are pretty awesome and I’m really proud of her.

Wonderful news and good on you, Dad!

I offered my son lessons a few years ago when he was about 15 and tinkering with one of my guitars. He’s a monster now and I couldn’t be prouder. Here’s a shot of SOME of his gear, and yes my wife wants her house back.:)

You are lucky, my daughter is a bass player.

Goog for her. I am not musically inclined. I can't even play chop sticks on a piano.

Can't post about my daughters and guitars, but found out this week that my 21 and 19 year old nieces both have Def Leppard "Photograph" on their playlists.

Anyway, cool development Pedro.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/gitaar.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/drummer.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif

That's about all I can play but I sure wish I had the musical intuition my aunt's side of the family had. My uncle (not blood related) played horns in the Les Brown Band and she was a Mills College trained violinist and chummed around with Dave Brubeck when they were all about 20.

This was all in Oakland CA which was pretty hip in the beat era.

My cousin has the inherited chops but was too lazy to practice. And there I was being able to only fumble with any instrument. I could play drums a bit and was a decent bongo player at one time. That's as far as I could get. I sucked at piano lessons.

Here's a small slice of my gear. I'm waiting on UPS to bring me another Marshall as I type this.

Can't carry a beat in a bucket. Sure do love listening though...

It's a great social skill to have for life.

Don't need to try and make a career choice out of it. I admire garage band/drinks on the beach quality of guitar and singing.
