That's a huge Garter Snake if it is that. I used to play with them as a child but didn't know they were slightly venomous. Never been bit. No problems with mice!

Snakes seem to like our patio. I fuond a brown snake a week ago enjoying it. Just walked around it & left it there. Yesterday there was a racer that took off when I got close. I haven't seen a rattler in three or four years.
