EURO 2020 final between Italy and England

Big game for England.

It's on right now.....ESPN

Have Italy ever won Euro?

Yes, they have. The Italians have won it once, but that was over 50 years ago. It came in the 1968 final, with Italy hosting, and they beat the former Yugoslavia across what was then a two-legged final.

Have England ever won Euro?

The Three Lions have actually never appeared in a final, let alone ever won one. They are the only European team to have won a World Cup but not a Euro and will try to change that on Sunday. The appearance is England's first in a major international cup final since the 1966 World Cup.

Still tied at 1-1 after extra time added to regulation. 15 more minutes and then if still tied up - the game will be decided by penalty kicks.

That was terrible....

Feel the same as I did after the 2008 Brazilian F1 GP where Massa lost the drivers world championship on the last corner of the last race when Hamilton overtook Glock to gain that one extra point to win

I know how lose and know how to win so roll on the wins

I can't believe that England, football mad England, can't win a world cup.

I think the guys need to focus on the game and a little less on their holidays to Ibiza and their WAGS.

Heartbreaking... I was hoping for an English win. Any game decided on penalties becomes ambiguous.

After all those disgusting reactions to the crying German fan (little girl) I think this is an excellent outcome.
I bet she is laughing her little German butt off right about now.
Who knew Karma was German?
And the racist reactions afterwards against their own players speak volumes.

Good Job Italy!
Dream outcome, I could not have hoped for a more painful loss for England.

Instead of coming home, it went to Rome

I hadn't seen this story.

It is sad that money has such power to soothe society's ills. Sadder still that people can be so cruel to a child.

The shootout:

Absolutely bonkers for a championship to be decided on a goalie guessing correctly.

There’s a little more to it than guessing. And after 2 hours of play that results in a tie, I see it as not much different than the interaction between a batter and pitcher that results in a walk off home run or strike out.

Unfortunately for England, the result yesterday was as much about some bad shots as it was a lucky goalie.

If you have been in that situation, you wouldn't agree with that statement.

It is absolutely exhilarating! I played for 22 or 23 seasons, I only remember our team going to PK's on one occasion in tournament play. I was the goal keeper.

Most of the time, our games weren't close, but that one win I remember most. I was crazy, I left the box on break aways all the time, just to get some action.

Agree.

Italy was very aggressive in the second half of the game, while England seemed to be back on their heels more than anything.

Is this coaching? Team leadership? A combination of those two?

The announcers were calling it too. We could all see it.

I really believe this is where England lost the game. In regulation. They just were not aggressive enough and let Italy dictate much of the play, IMHO.

I love soccer/football, but I can't stand watching it. Half the game I in was in goal, almost every season. Talk about a boring sport to watch, especially at the age I was. Swinging from the goal post occupied most of my time in net. No wonder my mother nick named me "monkey".

I had a teammate that lived close to me, and we worked out a perfect goal kick, not corner, goal kick. He played right wing, and was a lefty, I was the goalie. He knew I was kicking it his way every time. One hopper, two, on the fly, header, chest, didn't much matter. Defender would chase him to end line, he'd stop, plant, or if the defender was close, juke, and hook it right in the net. I might the all time record for one pass assists by a goalie.

If you look at the stats, England didn't really show up to play at all. They were lucky to get to PK's.
