i am chatty this morning on PPOT because i am in some online defensive drivers training.

acronyms. retarded!! i just listened to a sentence. "the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System known as "SWITRS"......."

what the hell? if you have to type or say the title in it's entirety to explain the acronym, what is the point anyways?! that is MORE words you have to say or type.

Yes, acronyms have gotten out of hand. If you look at a list, one acronym can stand for dozens of phrases or spelled out names.

If the acronym makes sense in itself as a viable word, I approve.

Its not just the government. Its the internet. About 10 years ago a chick posted about her TBSS. It took a minute to figure out that was Trailblazer SS. A few weeks aho, I think it was Joe Bob posted he had to drive his 9. I hate trying to translate acronyms into english.
