The new name shows a real lack of imagination, IMHO.

Naming the team after the well-known Manchester (England) newspaper/website seems a bit gormless.

The Guardians are statues on a bridge near the Cleveland baseball stadium. Maybe that's the basketball arena.

Just f**king kill me.

The Superman character was born in Cleveland. The Michelson Morley Experiment was in Cleveland. Bob Hope grew up in Cleveland. "Rock and Roll" was coined in Cleveland. First Monday Night Football game was in Cleveland. No other ideas than bridge statues?

Yep.

Would be sweet if we could get through all of this and just call them the Indians.

^^^ That's truly enough to win me over for the correct name change.
Ian Hunter is one of most under-rated rockers ever.
