One of my bucket list to see an MMA fight in person, but I need to be up close.

Very cool, enjoy. I've never watched an MMA fight in person. I've watched a bunch of youtube stuff. I suspect most of that is edited to be more exciting. I'm sure in person, it would be very exciting.
I'd like to take something like it, but a little less hardcore. Maybe jiu jitsu would be better for me, similar but with fewer face punches and less kicking palm trees with your shins. ![]() ![]()

That’ll be a great main event. Pit bull would be a big contender for the UFC title if he was in that promotion. Very cool.

Pardon my ignorance: By working, do you mean refereeing?
If so, that has to be intense!

I am a part-time Athletic Inspector with the California State Athletic Commission. The are a lot of moving parts to the job, but the most visible is the guy in the suit next to the fighter in the cage or ring.
The best part is that I am paid to watch the fight (amongst other duties) from cage/ringside on the apron. In huge fights, some of the tickets behind me are $5000-$10,000 each. I work the UFC, PFL, Bellator, Glory, King of the Cage, etc., and pro-boxing and kickboxing events is California. The damage these fighters take during EVERY fight is incredible; that is true whether they win, lose or draw! As I get closer to retirement from my full-time job, I am working in a mentor program to referee and judge MMA fights. That's my goal! We have to know and understand the rules of the sports so we can make the best decisions possible. Nobody is perfect and some mistakes are made, but California judges usually get it right.
