Got My Guitar Kit Completed
Well got the semi hollow body guitar kit finished. This is way better than making a solid body guitar completely from scratch like I did back in 1980 or so! The stain is leather dye with a clear sealer coat and then 15 coats of clear gloss lacquer which I ran out of. I tried to buy more but it seems it is no longer sold in San Diego area, none of the places that sell wood finishes has it or can get it and no one knew why. I am guessing it is an air quality issue since the DEFT brand is nitrocellulose lacquer soooooo? Anyways getting a bunch from Phoenix which is also 1/2 the price that the spray cans are here in the San Diego area? Here's several pictures, sure plays good and it has been 25 years since I played and my fingers hurt!

Nice ash thin line!! I’ve been building a few myself, just finishing up a 57 Strat and working on a few others. If I could finger out how to load videos from this iPad I would be happy to shred on the forum.

Neat-o for sure, beautiful work! Thanks for the nice words and making the body from scratch is a blast, as I found out back about 1980 or so. I used Zebra wood and it was really neat and beautiful wood but it has poison dust so I had to wear a super type of mask and then vacuum the garage so the wife and girls wouldn't get into it. I used the new Lace Sensor pickups and had it wired with a 5 position switch. I sold them (2), a pair of huge amps/speakers to a fellow that ran a band in Tijuana. I hope he got good use out of everything, about 1990 or so I think?

I might get a kit guitar, looks cool, cheaper than a re-issue Fender. I bet your sounds like a holobody telecaster. Good job, Old Roach confuses me, why not Tele-bopper or something. LOL!

I have found there are several "kit" makers of different sizes/shapes/pickup/necks and it seems most of them are made in China? The kit I used was from Bad Cat Guitars which sends the kits from Ohio or so and the company is in China. I was impressed with the neck to body fit and also how well all the holes (except for strap) were drilled. This company uses Facebook to provide all support and such as I had some questions about wiring and as soon as I asked I got help which was nice. All of them sell Zebra wood models so if you get one of those....the dust is POISON! They are a huge deal as mine was $180 or so.
