I wear them because whatever I wear in the farm gets brutalized. Any of you dick heads want to come work with me on the farm, bring it.

Absolutely, nine months a year.

Even with a hard toe or steel toed boot or shoe my foot is at risk, not my toes.

I much more prefer the support and flexibility of the NB's. I've been doing this gig for 26 years and most of my tasks are driving tractors with hydro static transmissions, maintaining those things, lots of walking and repairs..

Boots are completely over rated for flat work unless it is cold.

After a lifetime of "tennis shoes" (...all athletic shoes are "tennis shoes" in my world :D), barefoot and Birkenstocks.... I wear boots now... bad feet since birth .... braces, specialty shoes for years, etc. and boots work for me now.

Back in '13, I was spltting some big azz red oak and a half fell on my big toe. I knew immediately it was broken... that led to about three years of "feet hell", etc. and has led me to where I've finally found comfort wearing Danners :)....

My father in law wore sneakers doing commercial flooring for 45 years. I asked him about it one time.

You crawl around on your hands and knees a lot. When he got his first knee replacement, the guy assisting asked the surgeon why they were going to replace a knee on someone who obviously could not be walking, as trashed as the knee was.

My knee hurts just thinking about how his xrays looked. Said it felt better the day after surgery than it did the day before, which is crazy.

I asked about work shoes on a new thread I started a month ago and the one answer that stuck in my craw was western boots. I'm still looking.

My shoes take such a beating. Years ago i picked up a pair of cleats at a garage sale and iv been wearing them ever since. Other sport shoes with a smoother bottom also work well but i like cleats for yard work and hiking. But they hold up way better than regular shoes and dont leak as fast. Which is very important in the winter and wet season as we have mud everywhere. I dont liek boots too heavy and hot and uncomfortable. Ofcourse i have regular shoes for going out. They are also getting pretty old they are a pair of vans i bought new in 2006. The front and back of the souls are down to the ribs occasionally i super glue a bicycle tube on the edges to prolong the life because they are still in good shape on top

This reminds me of a 15 yr old kid and his dad that i saw in a Thrift. The kids tennies were absolutely falling apart and his dad was pleading with him to try on a newer pair. The kid kept stoicaly saying that his were just fine..

I figured the kids obsession was mental illness..and that he was holding his parents feet to the fire.
