A close one....
So..I set off this am for a bike ride with the Propella. It looked like rain, so at the last minute, I changed my shoes to an older pair of lace-ups.
I must have had the lace bows too large because my right foot lace got caught in the crank/chain and threw it off. I had it almost back on with one hand holding the chain near the teeth and the other hand to turn the crank. (the shoulder was grassy...so the tire could slip) As the teeth grabbed the first couple links, I started to turn the crank and the chain took off like a gas chain saw! Dang it...I forgot to power down the assist. Luckily, (and I don't know how) I managed to jerk my hand back before my fingers went between the sprocket and the chain. Prob wouldn't have broken any fingers, but I'm sure there would be some torn skin. Stupid mistake....live and learn. :) |
Doh!

Glad you've got ninja/cat-like reflexes for an old guy!

Yeah, I learned to not exit the bike without powering down...sometimes just moving the pedal into position can trigger the assist for a second, or two.

Whew ;).... |
I had only gone about five miles and the assist was in the 3rd out of 5 power settings.
I should have turned it upside down to put the chain back on...then I would have been back-pedaling to work it on. |
I wish the Propella would have been available as a belt-drive.
So much easier...and cleaner. |
Jeeze Steve. Trap for young players. Quick reactions! And pleased you survived it - who would have feed the turtles LOL

With this hot weather....they almost eat their weight in food everyday! The filters need cleaning every week...instead of once a month. https://video.nest.com/live/dgRkzHdqJY |
Velcro fastened shoes...

I haven't done that since I was a Pre-Teen.

Shoes don't make much diff with the Propella. I just didn't pay attention to the laces like I should have. |
